Derek Ferguson in agreement after ‘ridiculous’ James Tavernier reveal at Rangers

Derek Ferguson is baffled to see James Tavernier be the leading goalscorer at Rangers this season.

Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski have failed to live up to expectations at the Gers, leaving the captain to shoulder the attacking burden in Govan.

The 34-year-old has seven goals in all competitions for the Light Blues in the current campaign, with four coming in the William Hill Premiership.

Tavernier was being linked with an exit from Ibrox in the summer, but fans will undoubtedly be happy he ended up staying at the Glaswegin outfit.

Danny Rohl should ask for new striker at Rangers

Gordon Dalziel has claimed the prospect of Tavernier leading the goalscoring charts at the Gers is “ridiculous”.

Ferguson was in agreement with the Light Blues’ attacking assessment, with Danilo, Miovski and Chermiti scoring a combined six goals.

The Ibrox faithful complained about Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane in the previous campaign, but the current situation at the Glaswegian outfit is much worse.

Speaking on Open Goal on 4 December, Dalziel said, “Tavernier is the top goalscorer. It’s ridiculous,” to which Ferguson responded, “It’s unbelievably poor.”

Rohl has continued to rely on Chermiti, but it remains to be seen how long the German manager persists with the striker after he missed a glaring opportunity to score against Dundee United in the 2-2 draw on 3 December.

As for Miovski, he has failed to replicate the form he showed at Aberdeen, and the North Macedonia international is now arguably in a make-or-break situation in his career after failing at Girona.

Danny Rohl has to take blame after what’s been seen at Ibrox

Findlay Curtis may look to pack his bags at Ibrox as Rohl continues to overlook the Scottish youngster.

The 19-year-old is among the top four goalscorers at Rangers this season, despite not playing much, yet the former Sheffield Wednesday boss has been reluctant to count on him.

Rohl has to take some responsibility for the Light Blues’ attacking woes as he continues to give the likes of Chermiti and Thelo Aasgaard chances while Curtis and Lyall Cameron rot on the bench.

With the evident issues the Glaswegian outfit are facing up front, it’s up to the German manager to turn things around.
