Michael Stewart slammed as ‘disgraceful’ after what happened in Rangers draw vs Dundee United

Michael Stewart has been blasted for his biased commentary as Rangers faced Dundee United in the William Hill Premiership on Wednesday.

Danny Rohl’s team travelled to Tannadice Park on 3 December, but they had to fight back twice in the 2-2 draw to secure a point.

Stewart was critical of Djedi Gassama’s antics after the former Sheffield Wednesday star was penalised by the referee after an apparent dive.

While the French youngster’s theatrics might’ve been a bit much, there were other instances where it seemed like the former Scotland international was rooting against the Glaswegian outfit.

Rangers bias obvious in Michael Stewart commentary

David Edgar of the Heart & Hand Podcast slammed Stewart’s partiality on comms as disgraceful.

The ex-midfielder seemed disappointed as the Gers were awarded a penalty in second-half stoppage time after Max Aarons was caught by Will Ferry inside the box.

Earlier in the game, as Amar Fatah scored Dundee United’s second in the 66th minute, Stewart sounded overly joyful.

Edgar wrote on X on 3 December: “Stewart’s bias on commentary is disgraceful.”

As for the game itself, this is where Rohl has to earn his keep, but he’s now dropped points in back-to-back matches and failed to close the gap at the top of the William Hill Premiership.

Hearts are leaving the door open for a title charge at Ibrox, but the Glaswegian outfit have failed to take advantage of Derek McInnes’ recent slip-ups.

William Hill Premiership state of play at Ibrox and Parkhead

Rohl has a chance to make history in the William Hill Premiership, winning the league title after the Gers went off to their worst start to a league campaign since 1978 under Russell Martin.

Rangers and Celtic have both seen massive drop-offs this season, giving Hearts the chance to break the 40-year duopoly in Scottish football.

However, Martin O’Neill managed to steady the ship at Parkhead after Brendan Rodgers’ shock resignation, and now Wilfried Nancy will have a chance to take the Hoops to the top of the table with a win over the Jambos at home on 7 December.

The best-case scenario for the Light Blues now would undoubtedly be a draw at Parkhead, with the two teams level on points, but Rohl’s team will have to be perfect in the upcoming matches to be considered a contender in the league.
