Rangers see £3.5m go down drain in another Kevin Thelwell Ibrox fail

Kevin Thelwell was rightfully dismissed at Rangers after an underwhelming summer transfer window.

The former Everton chief signed 12 players at the Gers after being appointed the sporting director under the new ownership, but it’s safe to say most of the new additions haven’t lived up to expectations at the Gers.

Thelwell and Patrick Stewart eventually departed Ibrox after weeks of protests from the fans at the Light Blues.

While Danny Rohl has turned the tide since replacing Russell Martin, the German manager clearly still doesn’t have the best of squads at his disposal to make a big enough mark yet.

Oliver Antman injury another blow for Rangers

Rohl has confirmed Oliver Antman will be out for eight weeks after picking up an injury at the Gers.

The winger was signed at Ibrox in the summer from Go Ahead Eagles for £3.5million, but has failed to replicate his quality in the William Hill Premiership.

In the Eredivisie last season, the Finland international was one of the most creative players, scoring 6 goals and assisting 15 times.

It can be argued that the Glaswegian outfit have seen their investment in the 24-year-old go down the drain, with the forward potentially out until the end of the upcoming transfer window.

The Gers may be unable to offload Antman in January, and it will undoubtedly be hard for them to recoup the money they spent on him after his struggles in G51.

Rohl is dealing with a long list of fitness issues at the Light Blues, and the Finland international is now another name for the German manager to be worried about.

Findlay Curtis biggest winner at Ibrox

Mikey Moore has also been sidelined at Ibrox after finally finding his feet at the Glaswegian outfit in recent weeks.

Rohl relied on the Tottenham loanee at Rangers before his injury, and Findlay Curtis may now have a chance to shine with Antman also out of action.

The Scottish youngster has struggled for game time at the Gers despite some impressive displays at the start of the season.

It would make sense for the German manager to rely on the 19-year-old more often, but it remains to be seen whether that will be the case.
