Rangers coach saved from embarrassment by Ibrox chiefs, lesson quickly learned
Rangers coach Sascha Lense is settling in at Ibrox after being appointed as the club’s new performance manager.
Danny Rohl replaced Russell Martin at Rangers back in October, and Lense was brought in as part of the 36-year-old’s coaching team.
Lense worked with Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday, and also had a spell at Manchester United when Ralf Rangnick was in charge.
Rangers have improved since the dismissal of Martin and the introduction of new coaching staff, climbing back towards the top of the Scottish Premiership in recent weeks.

Sascha Lense saved from fatal error by Rangers hierarchy
Last week, it was confirmed that Rangers have appointed Tristan Steiner from Bundesliga 2 side SC Preussen Munster into a coaching and analysis role.
Like Lense, Steiner was in and around the Sheffield Wednesday setup last season, observing training sessions.
Rohl clearly feels that packing his backroom staff with people he has worked with before is a recipe for success at Rangers.
However, Lense has now revealed that he almost made a fatal error following his move to Ibrox, but was saved by the club.
Speaking to BILD’s print edition on Wednesday, the German coach explained that he had chosen a green car upon his arrival in Scotland, but was quickly told of the links to arch-rivals Celtic.
He said: “I had ordered a leased car, a green Mini Cooper. Of all colours, the colour of their city rivals! Immediately, they said I couldn’t drive it. I had to exchange it, and now I have a black one.”
Rangers to ‘make sure’ they overtake Celtic
Back at the start of November, Rangers were beaten 3-1 by Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final, as Rohl got his first taste of the Old Firm derby.
The Gers next face their local rivals at the beginning of January, and it could be pivotal in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.
Rohl’s side are currently seven points adrift of Celtic in the table, with league leaders Hearts a further two points clear.
Despite the deficit, Lense is adamant that Rangers can end the season ahead of the Hoops.
He said: “There’s no getting around the Old Firm, it’s hard to beat. Now we’ll make sure we manage to overtake our city rivals.”
