Clinton Nsiala posts cryptic message ahead of Rangers clash with Dundee United

Clinton Nsiala has been a forgotten man at Rangers this season.

Nsiala was linked with a loan exit from Rangers in the summer, but he remained at Ibrox despite Russell Martin axing him from the squad.

He is yet to make an appearance under Danny Rohl, although he has been on the bench for the last two matches, which is better than what he was afforded by Martin.

He has now taken to social media ahead of Rangers’ trip to Dundee United, suggesting a change in his fortunes.

What did Clinton Nsiala say this time after previous Rangers swipe?

Rangers outcast Nsiala took aim at Martin in September, with a cryptic post that featured a cartoon image of himself, with the caption “still here”.

He took to Instagram on 2 December, posting two images of himself training, with a third image that said: “Change is scary, but change is growth.”

He captioned the post with the word “renewal”, suggesting that Rohl may have provided him with assurances over his playing time.

Danny Rohl bringing Nsiala back into the fold makes sense

Rohl is short on options at centre-back at the moment, with both Derek Cornelius and John Souttar out with injuries, and return dates not yet in sight for the key duo.

That has left Nasser Djiga, Emmanuel Fernandez and Dujon Sterling as his only options in the position, so a return for Nsiala would not be a surprising development at Auchenhowie.

That is especially true as the former is expected to head to the Africa Cup of Nations with Burkina Faso on 15 December, leaving Fernandez as the only recognised centre-back at Rohl’s disposal.

The 21-year-old has featured 13 times so far in his Gers career, since signing from AC Milan’s youth team, but he has struggled to make an impression in his limited opportunities.

However, Rohl may be left with no option but to reintegrate him into the first-team picture, given the circumstances that he finds himself in.

Nsiala will hope to finally prove himself, if he is given a chance, and remove himself from the wilderness in Govan.
