Scott Arfield sends eight-word message to Rangers fans after Ibrox return

Scott Arfield has thanked Rangers fans after his long-awaited return to Ibrox on Sunday.

Rangers were held to a goalless draw by Falkirk on 30 November, with fans growing discontent with the football on show in Govan.

It was a reverse of the earlier return fixture that saw Russell Martin sacked at Ibrox, and led to a police escort to leave the ground.

While a disappointing result, it was enough to see the Gers rise to fourth in the Scottish Premiership, nine points behind league leaders Hearts.

Scott Artfield given warm reception

Artfield departed Rangers in 2023 after five years at Ibrox.

The midfielder made over 175 appearances for the Scottish Premiership side and netted almost 30 goals during his extensive career.

Now, a regular feature for the Bairns, Arfield was warmly greeted by Gers fans when he took to the pitch in the 60th minute of Rangers’ draw to Falkirk.

His entrance was not much to rave about:

The 37-year-old’s lacklustre performance was unsurprising given his age and Rangers’ energetic forwards, but it was brilliant to see him return.

Rangers fans made sure to show him their utmost respect and appreciation when they applauded him after he was subbed on for their opponents.

Their actions didn’t go unnoticed by Arfield, who took to his Instagram on 1 December to thank the fans for their support.

He said: “Very grateful for the reception back at Ibrox.”

While the result was disappointing, Rangers fans have once again shown why they are the best.

Danny Rohl has glaring issue to fix before Dundee United

Rangers take on Dundee United at Tannadice Park on Wednesday and will not want to travel back to Ibrox empty-handed.

The Gers’ finishing was a huge issue against Falkirk:

Danny Rohl’s side completely dominated their opponents from beginning to end, and on paper, they should’ve won the game.

However, football is played on the pitch, and goals win you games, the latter of which Rangers struggled with on Sunday.

As a result, Rohl will be hoping his side will be as clinical as they are creative when Rangers face Dundee on Wednesday.
