Rangers reveal called ‘staggering’ live on BBC Sportscene after Falkirk draw

Rangers continue to seriously lack quality in the final third after limping to a draw against Falkirk on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers drew 0-0 against Falkirk at Ibrox, letting the chance slip for Danny Rohl to secure five consecutive victories in the Scottish Premiership.

Despite playing newly-promoted opposition, the Bears failed to create clear-cut chances, with Bojan Miovski and Oliver Antman especially struggling.

Kevin Thelwell was recently sacked by Rangers, and watching his big-money signings again, it is no surprise that he was shown the door.

Rangers fail to replace genuine quality at Ibrox

Rangers will not challenge for the Scottish Premiership again, based on this performance.

Andy Halliday has called out the creativity, or lack of it, in Govan this season, with clear-cut chances few and far between in every game at the moment.

Speaking live on BBC Sportscene on 30 November, the ex-Rangers defender was stunned by research into the current woes in the final third at Ibrox.

“I looked at this earlier,” he said.

“Dessers, Cerny and Igamane, who were your talismen last year, contributed 63 goals for Rangers.

The three replacements, going into December, have three goals in all competitions.

“It’s not just to show a potential downgrade in personnel; it actually just highlights how little creativity the side has behind them.”

Jonathan Sutherland was left scratching his head in reaction to the graphics shown on screen, saying, “Staggering stats.”

What next for Rangers?

After Rangers struggled past Livingston, they missed a real opportunity to beat Falkirk.

Hearts also dropped points again, handing Celtic the chance to go back top of the Scottish Premiership with their game-in-hand.

Instead, the Bears can only go six points behind the Jambos, and likely seven behind Celtic if results go as expected.

With Dundee United and Kilmarnock, both away, next up for Rohl and Rangers, nothing short of six points are expected from those games if they want to remain in contention.

Hibernian and Hearts follow that in Scottish Premiership games before Christmas, and if further points are dropped in any of these, Rohl can wave bye to any success this season.
