Danny Rohl’s latest Rangers appointment proves he’s now calling the shots at Ibrox

Danny Rohl has only been at Rangers for a little over a month but he is already putting his own stamp on the club.

Rohl replaced Russell Martin at Ibrox after the former Southampton boss endured a torrid four months in charge of the Glasgow giants.

Martin wasn’t the only casualty of the Gers’ awful start to the season, with Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart sacked on Monday 24 November.

Rangers have improved since the appointment of Rohl, and the German has now made a behind-the-scenes change as he hopes to continue the upward trend.

Danny Rohl adds to his backroom staff at Rangers

It has been confirmed that Rohl has brought in Tristan Steiner from Bundesliga 2 side SC Preussen Munster as a new addition to his backroom staff at Ibrox.

Last season, the 22-year-old observed training sessions while Rohl was in charge of Sheffield Wednesday and he will now join up with the former Owls boss in Scotland.

Steiner will undertake a number of roles as part of the behind-the-scenes team at Rangers, combining coaching and video analysis.

He worked as part of the youth setup with Preussen Munster, but was responsible for a wide range of tasks and has now been headhunted by the Gers.

Danny Rohl sticking with what he knows

Rohl clearly understands the magnitude of the task ahead of him, as he aims to propel Rangers up the table and into the Scottish Premiership title fight.

The situation at Ibrox has descended into something of a mess over the past few months, but the former Sheffield Wednesday manager is going about his job in a strategic way.

Rohl has already brought Sascha Lense, who he worked with at Hillsborough, as the club’s new performance manager.

With the addition of Steiner, the German is continuing the trend of appointing coaches that he already knows well.

More changes at Ibrox are likely to come thick and fast, with Rangers looking to bring in a new sporting director to replace the departing Thelwell.

David Weir has been touted as an option to fill the void, but it is yet to be seen who the 49ers choose to lead their recruitment.
