Barry Ferguson predicts Rangers vs Falkirk scoreline: ‘I don’t think this will be as easy as people think’
Barry Ferguson wasn’t convinced by Rangers’ defence when making a prediction for Sunday’s clash with Falkirk at Ibrox.
The last meeting between the two sides saw Rangers draw 1-1 with Falkirk on 5 October, and it signalled the end of Russell Martin’s disastrous reign.
The situation is incredibly different under Danny Rohl, with the German manager winning all four of his Scottish Premiership matches in charge.
Nasser Djiga was woeful against Braga on Thursday, and the defending for Gabri Martinez’s goal was absolutely criminal.
Defensive issues have been a key theme of Rangers‘ season, and former interim manager Ferguson expects them to struggle at the back against Falkirk.

Barry Ferguson expects Rangers to concede vs Falkirk
The Bears have endured a tumultuous season under the ownership of the 49ers, and recruitment in defence has simply not been good enough.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show Podcast on 28 November, Ferguson believes Rangers will beat Falkirk on 30 November, but they won’t keep a clean sheet.
He said: “I don’t think this will be as easy as people think, but I think Rangers will be too strong.
“I’m gonna go with 3-1 Rangers. I think Falkirk will score and it’ll be 2-1 until the final few minutes.”
| Competition | Games played | Goals conceded |
| Scottish Premiership | 12 | 11 |
| Premier Sports Cup | 3 | 5 |
| Champions League | 6 | 12 |
| Europa League | 5 | 9 |
Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez are set to play at centre-back for the next run of games as John Souttar and Derek Cornelius remain injured for the rest of 2025.
If it weren’t for some of Jack Butland’s heroics throughout the season, Rangers would have dropped a lot more points, and it’s clear that they haven’t been a tough side to play against.
Fernandez’s header against Livingston on 22 November has given him some confidence, but that needs to translate across to Djiga, who continues to disappoint on loan from Wolves.

Rohl will find it tough to change the mentality of his squad, but it has to be his number one priority ahead of a busy festive period.
How can Danny Rohl get the best out of Rangers’ defence?
Rohl was known for his direct and fast-paced style of play at Sheffield Wednesday, leading them to an unexpected 12th-placed finish in the 2024-25 Championship season.
However, his lack of managerial experience leaves fans questioning how he can get the best out of his defenders.
Fernandez has shown promise, however, there’s no evidence to suggest that this group of centre-backs can lead the Bears to a title challenge.
It’s all about confidence at this level, and if Djiga and Fernandez can get a good run of games together in the same formation, then that would minimise the number of mistakes they make.
As Rangers look to close the gap on league leaders Hearts, they must be at the top of their game against fifth-placed Falkirk if they want to avoid more embarrassment in defence.
