‘Embarrassing’ Rangers star now rated second-worst Europa League player after Braga draw

Mohamed Diomande has been rated as the Europa League’s second-worst player after Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Braga.

The Gers star has had a dreadful start to the season so far as he continues to struggle with his discipline on the pitch.

Diomande was sent off for Rangers again in the Braga draw, with the midfielder also being given his marching orders against Genk in the Europa League.

While the red card against Braga was perhaps harsh, it is another example where the 24-year-old has put the Gers at a disadvantage due to his ill-discipline.

With Diomande now having two reds in both of his Europa League appearances this season, he has now been ranked as the competition’s second-worst player.

Mohamed Diomande ranked second-worst Europa League player

Diomande’s discipline has long been an issue at Rangers this season.

To date, the midfielder already has two yellow cards in the Scottish Premiership as he continues to make fouls.

Diomande was labelled “embarrassing” by Tam McManus after Rangers’ victory over Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final due to the sheer amount of fouls he committed.

Now, due to his inability to stay on the pitch, WhoScored on 28 November has given the midfielder a 5.67 overall rating in the Europa League.

This is the second-lowest in the competition, with only Daniel Gudjohnsen of Malmo ranking lower at 5.60

Bojan Miovski is also in the bottom 10, with a 5.91 average rating given likely due to his failure to find the net in his five appearances within the competition.

How did Diomande perform vs Braga?

Apart from his red card, the midfielder did have a solid game against Braga.

According to Sofascore on 28 November, Diomande won eight duels, completed three key passes and made two successful dribbles.

Therefore, if he can cut the fouls and cards out of his game, he could become a vital asset for Danny Rohl.

Now, the manager needs to ensure that he can achieve this, as it could help Rangers progress up the table.
