Neil Warnock switches Arne Slot and Liverpool sack debate to Rangers – ‘Makes me laugh’

Rangers know plenty about sacking a manager in recent times.

The Gers have already let go of two managers in 2025 alone, with Russell Martin being the latest to depart Ibrox in October.

Philippe Clement was the other to depart Rangers after a series of poor results made Celtic’s title victory an inevitability.

Now, the manager’s name has been brought up again amid Liverpool’s ongoing crisis.

Neil Warnock brings up Philippe Clement in Liverpool sack debate

Liverpool are currently in a crisis. The Reds have now lost nine of their last 12 matches in all competitions, losing 4-1 at home to PSV on Wednesday.

As a result, Arne Slot’s future is in question, despite winning the Premier League just last season.

With the debate raging throughout the media on whether Liverpool should stick with the Dutchman or not, Neil Warnock has now weighed in on the situation.

Speaking to talkSPORT on 27 November, the former Aberdeen manager was quick to bring up Clement, who has just taken the Norwich City job, when discussing Slot’s future.

He said: “Who’re they going to get? You talk to me about Rangers, Ally [McCoist]… Philippe Clement was manager when I was up there. I’m not impressed.

“I think some of these lads, like the Swansea one, they don’t know what the Championship is about. It makes me laugh.”

How is Clement doing at Norwich City?

So far, Clement’s reign at the Canaries is off to a nightmare. The manager lost 4-1 to Birmingham City in his opening match.

This was soon followed up with a 1-1 draw against Oxford United at home, with the visitors netting a 95th-minute equaliser.

As a result, the Canaries are currently 23rd in the division, six points from safety.

Therefore, the former Rangers manager will need to quickly pick up wins if Norwich are to get out of and pull away from the relegation zone.

If not, he may soon find himself out of a job yet again.
