Rangers ace not used this season spotted at Auchenhowie, injured player also back
Rabbi Matondo was among those to take part in Rangers training on the eve of Thursday’s Europa League clash with Sporting Braga.
Matondo remained at Rangers over the summer despite falling out of favour, but another injury setback has seen him sidelined until recently.
However, the Wales international was among those spotted at Auchenhowie on Wednesday, along with Youssef Chermiti as he has seemingly recovered from a minor injury issue.
Providing an update on Sky Sports News, reporter Adam Binnie said from Rangers‘ training ground: “I can see Rabbi Matondo out there – he’s not featured at all this season.
“Youssef Chermiti is also back in training after missing the game at the weekend.”
Sporting Braga could make history with win at Ibrox
Rangers know the importance of a victory at Ibrox on Thursday if they are to have any hope of advancing to the knockout rounds.
And the good news is that the Gers have a good record against their next opponents, having won three of their previous four encounters.
All four of those matches came in the Europa League in the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons, with the two sides getting to know each other well.
In fact, Braga have lost four of their five away matches against Scottish opposition, albeit their solitary victory coming against Celtic in this season’s competition.
That could see Braga become the first team to win away at both Rangers and Celtic in a single European campaign.
Perhaps unsurprisingly based on their respective form this season, Braga are heavy favourites to beat Rangers.
Bojan Miovski set to get nod up front for Rangers
Rangers lost to Roma at Ibrox last time out in the competition and have been defeated in their past seven European matches stretching back into last season.
The only Scottish team to have lost more in a row were Motherwell with eight between 2010 and 2013.

Rohl may well have already written off the Europa League, but he cannot afford to name a weakened squad on Thursday.
Even accounting for Chermiti’s return to training, Bojan Miovski should lead Rangers’ attack against Braga.
Rohl has a few big calls to make elsewhere, with Findlay Curtis potentially pushing for inclusion, as Rangers look to get some momentum building.
