Rangers to green light January exit for summer signings after critical Danny Rohl latest

Danny Rohl is said to be unimpressed by Rangers’ summer signings.

Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart were sacked on Monday following Andrew Cavenagh‘s brave but logistical decision.

Rangers’ summer spending spree was diabolical, perhaps even the worst in the Bears’ history, and it all boiled down to Thelwell.

With Stewart approving signings, the two were equally at fault – a genuine ‘lesser of two evils’ situation.

Rohl is still managing to get results for Rangers despite having limited resources of his own available.

However, it’s now highly likely that Cavenagh and Co. will cut their losses with multiple signings following Rohl‘s early “assessment” following his appointment.

Multiple Rangers signings at risk of sale after Danny Rohl’s verdict

From defence to attack, Rangers have gaping holes in their team with big gaps in quality.

Mikey Moore has now started to show his talent in a Gers shirt, on loan from Tottenham, but it’s more the permanent signings who are the real issue.

After the sacking of Thelwell and Stewart, the Daily Record revealed that Rohl’s thoughts on the business conducted in the summer may have influenced Cavenagh’s decision to pull the trigger on the duo.

The Daily Record stated: “There have been suggestions that Danny Rohl’s less-than-favourable assessment of the summer signings had been a factor.

“The Rangers board knew they simply couldn’t afford to give Thelwell another window, given how badly the summer went.”

Youssef Chermiti will be in danger of being sold, but he won’t be the only casualty, as Rangers may now prepare a fire sale of summer signings in January.

Three Rangers signings to be offloaded in January

Rohl has shown what he can do without the tools required to be successful, which puts further emphasis on the importance of a good January window.

Chermiti has been terrible, and even the German head coach can’t seem to get the striker clicking at the moment.

Thelo Aasgaard was called out for his performance against Livingston on Saturday after Rohl decided to hook him after a poor 45-minute showing.

He and Bojan Miovski, alongside Chermiti, should all be looking over their shoulders in the coming weeks, with Rohl ready to make necessary calls.

The trio will cost well over £15m in fees, and Gers would be lucky to see even half of that return after their potential sales.
