Supercomputer predicts result of Rangers vs Braga in Europa League

Danny Rohl is under pressure to improve Rangers’ woeful Europa League results as they face Braga on Thursday.

Rohl has already been praised for his attention to detail in several matches, and his new 3-5-2 system is proving to be incredibly problematic for opposition defences in Scotland.

However, Rangers are sat 36th in the Europa League table, following four losses from their opening four games, and Braga are the next team that stands in the way of Rohl‘s side.

Despite recording a 2-1 victory over Livingston on Saturday, a loss for Rangers against Braga would be catastrophic.

Braga predicted as heavy favourites to beat Rangers

Braga have started their European campaign with three wins from their first four matches, and sit 5th in the table.

They defeated Celtic 2-0 on 2 October, and they look primed to record another memorable win in Glasgow.

According to Opta’s supercomputer, Rangers will suffer another blow in the Europa League at Ibrox.

The Bears have won three of their four matches against the Portuguese side, including a memorable Europa League quarter-final clash in 2022.

Having lost the first leg 1-0, James Tavernier’s brace spearheaded Rangers to a 3-1 win at Ibrox as the fans finally started to believe they could go all the way.

Rohl is yet to have a magical European night of his own, and Ibrox hasn’t felt those emotions in a long time.

A loss would more or less end Rangers’ hopes of qualifying for the playoff round, and only three points would give Rohl’s side a fighting chance.

Rangers would need a miracle should they fail to beat Braga

In the 2024-25 season, Rangers gained 14 points from eight matches to secure an automatic place in the round of 16.

The maximum they can achieve from their remaining four ties is 12 points, and that would be the only way they could guarantee a playoff place.

Last campaign, Fenerbahce claimed 24th position in the table with 10 points and a goal difference of -2.

Braga and Elfsborg also achieved that, but their inferior goal difference saw them knocked out.

A points target of 11 is what is necessary, meaning Rangers will have to be faultless in Europe if they want to progress to the next stage of the competition.
