Gennaro Gattuso tipped to be next Rangers manager: ‘I’m convinced’
Kyle Lafferty has backed Gennaro Gattuso to make a stunning Rangers return in the near future.
Danny Rohl was appointed Rangers head coach after a long saga, which saw plenty of names thrown about after Russell Martin was sacked.
Rangers are looking for long-term success, and there is hope that Rohl can deliver silverware soon.
There have been claims for Gattuso to take up the Rangers job in the past, but Gers fans will be happy with Rohl at the moment.
However, Lafferty is “convinced” that if Rohl doesn’t work out, then the Italian could be next for the role.

Kyle Lafferty claims Gennaro Gattuso would be ‘excellent’ at Rangers
Gattuso is currently the boss of Italy’s senior national team and has won five out of his six games in charge since taking up the post in June this year.
The 47-year-old scored five goals for Rangers during his short stay at Ibrox, but the quality of the defensive midfielder was there to be seen.
- Gattuso played 45 times for Rangers
- He didn’t win any major trophies while with the Gers
- Gattuso has managed the likes of Valencia, AC Milan, and Napoli since retiring from his playing days
Gattuso would be considered a controversial choice for the Ibrox job because of his fiery temper and confrontational nature.
Though former Gers striker Lafferty has now opened up on why he would like to see him return to Glasgow as a manager one day.
Lafferty said, as quoted by Italian outlet I love Palermo Calcio: “I have a strong respect for him [Gattuso]. He is a great professional as well as a great man.
“Given his past in Glasgow Rangers, I hope to see him one day at their helm. I am convinced that the relationship between him and the Scottish club would be excellent.”

However, Rohl’s contract and current trajectory may delay Gattuso’s return to Glasgow, as he looks to take Italy to the World Cup in 2026.
Danny Rohl will most likely see out his contract at Rangers
Rohl signed an initial two-and-a-half-year deal to become the Rangers boss, and at this current rate, he looks set to remain in charge for a long time yet.
Gattuso is living up to expectations as a manager, and there’s no doubt over his ability to coach a side to success, even if his explosive attitude comes out every now and then.
However, Rohl is young, hungry, and heading in the right direction for the Bears.
Even if challenges arise, Andrew Cavenagh and Co. would be wise not to rush a decision on the talented German coach who is destined for the top.
Stranger things have happened in football, though, and maybe one day we could see Gattuso grace Ibrox once again.
