Nasser Djiga appalling, Tom English slams another Rangers player in incident vs Livingston

Nasser Djiga was caught out defensively as Rangers beat Livingston in the William Hill Premiership on Saturday.

Danny Rohl got the better of David Martindale at Ibrox on 22 November, with the Burkina Faso international starting alongside Emmanuel Fernandez at centre-back.

After the Gers took the lead through the former Peterborough United defender, Tete Yengi found himself through on goal shortly after, outmuscling Djiga and beating Jack Butland in the 18th minute.

The German manager was forced into a drastic defensive change due to John Souttar and Derek Cornelius’ injuries, but the Glaswegian outfit still got the three points after Mohamed Diomande’s winner in the 2-1 victory.

Oliver Antman should’ve done better in Rangers vs Livingston

Oliver Antman sat on the ground instead of tracking back after being dispossessed in the build-up to Yengi’s goal.

While Djiga was arguably the main culprit as the Light Blues conceded at Ibrox, the Finland international showed a lack of urgency when needed the most.

After an encouraging start to the game, it was clear the Glaswegian outfit were missing their best players, as Livi began to threaten in the final third.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Tom English said: “Two things there, appalling defending from Djiga, and before that, Antman dispossessed, and he just sits on the ground and does nothing about that.”

Fernandez was arguably lucky not to concede a penalty against Livingston, but in the end, all that matters is that the Gers continued their win streak in the league.

Danny Rohl has clear road to challenge Hearts after Ibrox success

Hearts have left the door open for a title challenge at Ibrox, with Derek McInnes’ team dropping points with two draws in their last three league matches.

Rangers will have a game in hand over the Jambos after Sunday’s matches and arguably have a better set of fixtures compared to them before the two sides meet on 21 December at Tynecastle Park.

Celtic could do the Gers a favour by beating Hearts in the William Hill Premiership at Parkhead on 7 December.

Rohl can surely catch up to the Edinburgh outfit with a consistent run of results, but it remains to be seen whether they can remain perfect before facing them.
