Barry Ferguson predicts Livingston surprise, guesses scoreline vs Rangers

Barry Ferguson doesn’t expect Livingston to finish bottom in the William Hill Premiership ahead of facing Rangers on Saturday.

The Gers icon believes Livi will have a resolute setup as Davd Martindale’s team travel to Ibrox on 22 November.

Danny Rohl is dealing with a defensive crisis with John Souttar and Derek Cornelius sidelined after picking up injuries during the November international break.

The German manager is looking for his fourth straight victory in the league, and fans will feel the West Lothian outfit are beatable considering they’ve won just once in the William Hill Premiership this season.

Rangers to beat Livingston at Ibrox

Ferguson expects a convincing victory for the Gers against Livingston, with Rohl’s team scoring three past them.

The former Scotland international doesn’t expect Livi to test the Light Blues’ backline, with the game predicted to end 3-0 at Ibrox.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Glaswegian outfit get the three points at home against a side that hasn’t won any of their last 10 league matches, but it would certainly be a tall order for Martindale’s team to climb up the table anytime soon.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 21 November, Ferguson said: “I think Rangers will win the game pretty convincingly. I know Livingston are at the bottom of the table. I don’t think Livingston will finish at the bottom of the league.”

The Scotsman added: “You know what you’re going to get from Martindale. He’s going to come to Ibrox. He’s going to set his team up hard to beat. But I think it’s going to be a long afternoon. Rangers will win it pretty convincingly. Rangers 3-0 Livi.”

Rohl’s starting lineup at Ibrox will be interesting to see, with Youssef Chermiti and Mikey Moore also expected to be absent against Livi, which will surely give the visitors some hope.

Oliver Antman will be hoping to get back into Rohl’s plans against Livingston, and with Moore out, he could potentially have the opportunity to prove himself.

Rangers will also need to ensure they’re defensively resolute without Souttar and Cornelius, and two banks of four should ensure that.

A back four with James Tavernier, Nasser Djiga, Emmanuel Fernandez and Jayden Meghoma can be supported by Antman, Nicolas Raskin, Connor Barron and Djeidi Gassama in the midfield.

Bojan Miovski and Danilo can build a partnership up front in a 4-4-2 formation, which will be different from the 3-4-3 and 4-2-3-1 setup Rohl has used so far at Ibrox.
