Barry Ferguson has Rangers worry after what he’s read on Sky Sports

Danny Rohl will surely be concerned about injuries to John Souttar, Derek Cornelius and Mikey Moore at Rangers, Barry Ferguson says.

The Gers icon is worried about the prospect of the German manager losing three of his key players after the November international break.

Clinton Nsiala will now be hoping for his chance at Ibrox, with the Frenchman absent from the squad over the last few months.

Oliver Antman will also be eager to cement his place in Rohl’s plans, with the former Go Ahead Eagle’s forward unable to make the impact expected when he was signed.

Rangers could be without John Souttar, Derek Cornelius and Mikey Moore until end of December

Ferguson shared his concerns after reading a Sky Sports report on when Souttar, Cornelius and Moore could return to action.

Rohl admitted in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Livingston at Ibrox on 22 November that Scotsman and Wales international may return at the end of December, while the Canadian centre-back could potentially be out for longer.

It will be interesting to see how the Glaswegian outfit cope with their defensive crisis, with Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez not really living up to expectations since their signing in the summer.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 21 November, Ferguson said: “It’s worrying because the first three [Souttar, Moore and Cornelius] are certain starters in my opinion. I think since Cornelius has come in, he’s been an excellent addition, good experience. I think he’s helped Souttar as well.”

The Light Blues’ former interim manager added: “Moore has come on to real good form since the new manager has come in. I thought against Dundee, he was exceptional.

“It’s part of football, unfortunately. Players go away on international duty. It’s something you need to deal with. I’m sure he’s a bit concerned. I’ve just read on Sky Sports that it’s looking like the end of December for the three I’ve just mentioned.”

Danny Rohl mettle to be tested at Ibrox after what’s happened

Moore was slowly starting to show promise at Ibrox after an underwhelming start to life in Govan, with many questioning the need for his loan move from Tottenham.

Souttar and Cornelius had also forged a strong partnership at Rangers after their defensive crisis under Russell Martin.

Rohl’s man-management skills will now be tested at Ibrox as he has to instil confidence in players who have rarely played for the Gers this season.

The German manager has shown incredible flexibility with his tactics since arriving in G51, and what would’ve previously been considered a winnable fixture against 12th-placed Livi has suddenly arguably become much more challenging.
