Rangers to get even more money for Nicolas Raskin in latest Barry Ferguson reveal

Barry Ferguson doesn’t want Rangers to sell Nicolas Raskin in the winter transfer window.

The Gers icon doesn’t think it would make sense to cash in on the Belgium international in January, despite just 18 months remaining on his contract by then.

Raskin was linked with an exit from Ibrox in the summer, but the midfielder ended up staying in Govan.

Danny Rohl is pushing to get back into the William Hill Premiership title race, and the 24-year-old could potentially play a huge role in turning the tide in G51.

Nicolas Raskin could be worth a lot at Rangers after 2026 World Cup

If Raskin shines at the 2026 World Cup with Belgium, as he has done during the recent international breaks, then the Gers could make even more money on him, Ferguson says.

The former Scotland international expects the midfielder to attract significant interest after a decent tournament in North America.

Not selling the former Standard Liege star would also give the Ibrox faithful a chance to enjoy him for six more months before his eventual departure next summer.

Ferguson wrote in the Daily Record on 21 November: “It would make more sense to keep him, let him go and play at the World Cup with Belgium and then go to the market. If he stars on the biggest stage of all and attracts a lot of interest, then Rangers might end up getting even more money for him as well as an extra six months on the pitch.”

Tottenham are among the teams eyeing Raskin, and it’s no surprise to see clubs from down south keeping tabs on him after an impressive spell in Govan and with Belgium.

The World Cup presents an opportunity for the midfielder to put himself on the radar of top European outfits, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up next.

Ibrox hierarchy already have bargain replacement for Nicolas Raskin

David Watson is being linked with a move to Ibrox, with the Kilmarnock midfielder’s current contract at Rugby Park expiring at the end of the season.

Rangers could potentially have a pre-contract agreement with the 20-year-old, who has scored 3 goals and provided one assist in 12 league matches this season.

The Scotland Under-21 international is versatile and is capable of playing in multiple positions in the middle of the park.

It would make sense for the Gers to have a Scottish core in the engine room, with Connor Barron and Lyall Cameron also at Rohl’s disposal.
