Rangers development baffle after new addition to Danny Rohl backroom staff
Rangers recently appointed Scott Fry to assist Danny Rohl as the set-piece coach.
Si Ferry is baffled by the former Lincoln City coach’s arrival at the Gers, wondering why the other members of the backroom staff can’t set the team up in dead-ball situations.
Kevin Thelwell worked with Fry at Wolves, and the Light Blues’ sporting director has been heavily involved with the recent appointments in Govan.
UEFA coach John Walker has certainly given the Ibrox faithful something to be excited about, detailing the Glaswegian outfit’s set-piece coach’s work in League One, with the Imps scoring 30 goals from set-plays last season.

Danny Rohl team at Rangers takes shape
Matthias Kaltenbach is the Gers’ assistant coach, while Sascha Lense was hired as the performance manager.
Kaltenbach has extensive experience working as an assistant at teams like Ajax and Hoffenheim, and Lense worked with Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday before following him to Ibrox.
Ferry can’t understand why the Glaswegian outfit specifically need Fry when they have other experienced members in the dugout.
Speaking on Open Goal, he said: “But I always think, what are your other coaches? How can your other coaches not do it? That baffles me. What are the other three coaches then? Can you not come up with a set piece? Is that not what you’re a coach for?”
Rohl’s next test in the William Hill Premiership is against Livingston at home on 22 November, and it will be interesting to see whether Fry has an instant impact in G51.
The German manager is gunning for his fourth straight league win in a row, with the Light Blues currently 12 points behind table-toppers Hearts.
Danny Rohl has defensive dilemma against Livingston at Ibrox
Emmanuel Fernandez may be set for a rare start at Ibrox, having made just three appearances for the Gers this season.
With John Souttar and Derek Cornelius potentially picking up knocks during the international break, Rohl has a massive headache on his hands regarding his defence.
| Player | Appearances | Minutes played |
| Souttar | 23 | 2100 |
| Cornelius | 12 | 943 |
Nasser Djiga may join the former Peterborough United centre-back against Livingston, and both of them will definitely need to step up after underwhelming stints in Govan so far.
Souttar and Cornelius have struck a decent partnership at the Glaswegian outfit, and fans will hope they aren’t out for too long.
