Kevin Thelwell set for extraordinary Nicolas Raskin transfer deal, Rangers fans to fume
Kevin Thelwell could potentially sanction the sale of Nicolas Raskin at Rangers in the winter transfer window.
Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson wouldn’t put it past the Gers’ sporting director to cash in on the Belgium international in January.
James Taylor revealed that player exits are anticipated at Ibrox midway through the season, with the Light Blues’ chief financial officer admitting they need to raise funds to reinforce the squad.
Barry Ferguson doesn’t think selling Raskin in the coming weeks is sensible, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Rangers fan backlash on cards with Nicolas Raskin sale
Jackson suggests Thelwell may be in for an even harder time at the Gers if he decides to cash in on Raskin.
The journalist feels the Belgian national’s sale isn’t something that should even be considered at Ibrox, but it’s seemingly not out of the question as the sporting director has already taken some “extraordinary” calls at the Light Blues.
Thelwell appointed his son Robbie Thelwell as the new head of recruitment recently, leading to accusations of nepotism from the Glaswegian outfit’s fans.
Speaking on Hotline Live on 20 November, Jackson said: “For all sorts of reasons, I don’t think selling Raskin in January is even something they can contemplate. But this is Rangers and the people making the decisions; Thelwell has made extraordinary decisions. So would you put it past him?”
The journalist added: “And by the way, if Thelwell thinks he’s getting a hard time now, wait till him and his boy flog the family silver and let Raskin go for god knows what sort of price.”
Raskin is arguably the best player at the Gers’ disposal, and despite his contract entering the final 18 months, it would undoubtedly be better to wait for the 2026 World Cup, after which the midfielder’s stock could potentially rise.
Andrew Cavenagh has already suggested Kevin Thelwell going nowhere
Thelwell and Patrick Stewart are both persona non grata at Ibrox, with fans making their feelings perfectly clear about them.
While Rangers supporters want to see the sporting director be replaced, it doesn’t look like Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have any intention of doing so.

There have been several appointments in the last few weeks at the Glaswegian outfit of people who’ve worked with Thelwell in the past.
The Light Blues’ new set-piece coach, Scott Fry, worked with the English chief at Wolves, and his influence is evident in Govan.
