Rangers outcasts know exactly what they need to do after latest Danny Rohl admission

Rangers players may have to hunt for their place in the starting lineup under Danny Rohl.

Chris Powell, the German manager’s former assistant at Sheffield Wednesday, has revealed that players must be willing to work themselves to the ground for the 36-year-old head coach.

Rohl has turned the tide since replacing Russell Martin, and he’s been willing to give most players an opportunity under him.

However, the likes of Lyall Cameron have struggled for minutes at Ibrox since the change in the dugout, but the Glaswegian outfit’s outcasts definitely know what they need to do to get into the team.

Danny Rohl intensity evident at Rangers

Rohl emphasises counter-pressing and winning the ball back as soon as the team loses, which has been evident at the Gers.

Powell has highlighted the German manager’s flexibility with his style of play, something that has been seen at Ibrox in recent weeks.

It feels like those who want to play regularly for the Glaswegian outfit will have to run their socks off for the former Sheffield Wednesday boss.

Speaking to The Rangers Review on 17 November, Powell said: “You need to have lungs to play for Danny because you need to run. He needs you to run, he needs you to hunt.”

“He wants to be better on the ball in certain areas, especially when attacking in the final third. Danny likes to build the play, but he’s not afraid to go from keeper to the front line. He’s also big on counter-pressing, especially in areas where the opposition may be disorganised.”

Findlay Curtis is another player whose minutes have dwindled under Rohl, but fans will hope the 19-year-old will get more opportunities in the coming weeks.

Danny Rohl to get rid of three players at Ibrox in January

While the likes of Cameron and Curtis can still play a significant role for Rohl, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Nedim Bajrami leave Ibrox in the winter transfer window after not playing in any of the last four William Hill Premiership fixtures.

Kieran Dowell and Rabbi Matondo have also been missing, and they seem to have no future at the Gers.

Other outcasts like Clinton Nsiala and Bailey Rice may go out on loan in January to further their development.

Rohl seems to be building something special at the Glaswegian outfit, and the American ownership must back the manager in the upcoming transfer windows.
