Kemar Roofe sent three-word message by hated Rangers figure as new transfer confirmed

Walsall have signed former Rangers striker Kemar Roofe on a short-term deal.

The Sky Bet League Two outfit confirmed the Jamaica international’s arrival on a short-term deal until January on 14 November.

Roofe announced his departure from Ibrox in 2024, with his contract set to expire, and since then, he has struggled to really get going, with a stint at Derby County lasting a few months.

It was arguably the right time for Rangers’ hierarchy to part ways with Roofe, but the title-winner will forever be a part of the Glaswegian outfit’s history.

Michael Beale sends message to former Rangers striker Kemar Roofe

Roofe was part of the Gers’ squad that won the Scottish Premiership title under Steven Gerrard in the 2020-21 season.

The 32-year-old, who has now joined Walsall, scored 14 goals in 24 league games for the Light Blues as they ended the 10-year wait for a league trophy at Ibrox.

Michael Beale was the first-team coach during the Liverpool icon’s managerial stint, then became permanent manager in November 2022, but after developing a resentful relationship with the fans, he was eventually sacked after 10 months.

The Glaswegian outfit’s former head coach wrote on Roofe’s Instagram post announcing the move to his hometown club on 14 November: “Good luck, Kem.”

Beale was being linked with a return to Ibrox with Gerrard as the Gers looked for a new manager in the summer, but that certainly wouldn’t have gone down well with supporters in G51.

As for Roofe, he had his highs and lows in Govan, but fans will surely be keeping an eye on how he performs at Walsall.

Danny Rohl to have Kemar Roofe demand at Ibrox

Kevin Thelwell signed Youssef Chermiti for £8million in the summer, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave soon after a poor start at the Glaswegian outfit.

Rangers also signed Bojan Miovski from Girona, but the recruitment department have undoubtedly failed to replace the influence of Cyriel Dessers, Hamza Igamane and Vaclav Cerny in G51.

The Gers’ top four goalscorers this season

Goals have been a luxury for the number nines at the Light Blues, with James Tavernier and Djeidi Gassama the leading goal scorers in all competitions for them this season, with six.

Danny Rohl will arguably ask the Gers’ hierarchy to sign someone like Roofe at Ibrox in the coming weeks, who can be a reliable threat up front, but it will arguably be a challenging task to find a quality number nine in January.
