Findlay Curtis to laugh in Kevin Thelwell’s face after latest Rangers interview

Rangers seem to have forgotten about the development of young players like Findlay Curtis.

The 19-year-old seemed to have the world at his feet at the Gers after a strong start to the season, but he’s been a bit-part player since Kevin Thelwell’s recruitment drive in the summer.

Curtis was subsequently surprisingly linked with an exit from Ibrox towards the end of the previous transfer window, despite arguably being one of the few standout players under Russell Martin.

Danny Rohl has since snubbed Curtis, with the Scottish youngster featuring in just one of the last six games in all competitions for the Glaswegian outfit.

Kevin Thelwell should be advocating for Findlay Curits at Rangers

Thelwell has admitted that he wants the Gers to be a team that gives the academy graduates opportunities to prove themselves.

The sporting director has shared that he doesn’t want the Light Blues to be one of the clubs that ignore their young talent.

Going by how Curtis has been treated at Ibrox in recent months, it doesn’t seem like the former Everton chief is serious about nurturing the youth at the Glaswegian outfit.

Speaking to RangersTV on 15 November, Thelwell said: “We want to say, ‘If you are one of our best talents, we don’t want you to leave for somewhere else. We want you to play for Glasgow Rangers and want you to succeed here’.”

The Scotland Under-19 international will surely be laughing at Thelwell’s statement, considering his lack of minutes despite putting in some decent performances.

Instead, players who were signed from down south and continue to underperform continue to play a key role under the German manager, which will undoubtedly be one of the few criticisms fans have of him.

Danny Rohl has one glaring excuse to snub Findlay Curits

It feels like most players at the Gers have been handed a clean state after Russell Martin’s exit, and Mikey Moore has certainly taken his chances under Rohl.

Rangers are finally getting to see the version of the 18-year-old who impressed at Tottenham last season.

With Moore and Gassama’s emergence under the former Sheffield Wednesday boss, Curtis has fallen down the pecking order.

All the Scottish youngster can now do is put his head down and work hard in training and hope the German manager recognises his talent at Ibrox.
