Chris Sutton sends Celtic surprise Rangers warning in Danny Rohl prediction

Celtic can’t discount Rangers from the William Hill Premiership title race, Chris Sutton says.

The ex-Hoops forward has sent the Parkhead hierarchy a warning as the Gers sit five points behind them in the league after 11 matches.

Danny Rohl has turned the tide at Ibrox, with the Light Blues winning three back-to-back games in the William Hill Premiership, but they still have a long way to go to challenge for the title.

Sutton shockingly predicted Rangers’ triumph if they win the arms race in January, but it remains to be seen how much money they will spend for the German manager.

Danny Rohl to change Rangers situation

Rohl was handed a reality check of the task at hand at the Gers after losing 2-0 to Roma in the Europa League at home on 6 November, with the Serie A giants outclassing them.

However, Sutton wouldn’t be surprised to see the German manager bring stability back to Ibrox and get consistent results going forward.

The Englishman admits the Glaswegian outfit will need to back the former Sheffield Wednesday boss, but that isn’t out of the question.

Sutton wrote in the Daily Record on 15 November: “Celtic have to expect an upturn at Rangers under Rohl. He’ll need backing as well, but you can’t discount them from the race by any stretch of the imagination.”

The Ibrox hierarchy have to take advantage of the crisis at Celtic, with Martin O’Neil currently taking interim charge of the Hoops.

Sutton has also urged the Parkhead hierarchy to appoint a permanent manager as soon as possible, as Hearts look to end the duopoly in the William Hill Premiership.

Danny Rohl to guarantee Ibrox success with one new transfer at Ibrox

Graeme Souness doesn’t want to see Kevin Thelwell get backed at the Gers in January after being accused of wasting funds in the summer.

Rangers signed 12 players under the former Everton chief, with nine of them coming from down south, and it’s safe to say, most of them haven’t worked out.

The most significant concern for Rohl going into the winter transfer window will undoubtedly be the lack of goal threat up front, with Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski failing to live up to expectations.

If the Glaswegian outfit sign a reliable number nine for the German manager at the turn of the year, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him bring glory back to Ibrox at the end of the season.
