Rangers and Celtic fans must unite over embarrassing scenes now deleted by Sky Sports
Jamie O’Hara has said that League One side Stockport County would win the Scottish Premiership.
Sky Sports now owns most of the rights for streaming Scottish Premiership matches this season.
Rangers have previously stated their disappointment in Sky deals, with arguments about whether the Bears receive sufficient value in return for the coverage provided.
There have been controversies with live coverage in the past, as Rangers may feel like Sky Sports has a bias against them.
Celtic and Rangers fans don’t like each other to say the least, but they will surely unite over the damming comments that O’Hara has just made towards Scottish football.

Jamie O’Hara completely clueless in stupendous Stockport County claim
During Premier League coverage, pundits clearly aim to provide a balanced perspective on games or topics under discussion.
However, O’Hara and Sky Sports have shown once again that their attitude towards the Scottish Premiership is really poor.
- Despite more coverage now, less detailed analysis is given by Sky Sports on Scottish Premiership games in comparison to the Premier League
- Sky Sports lacks a cultural focus and knowledge on rivalries like Celtic and Rangers
- There has been widespread frustration over a potential commentary bias on Sky coverage, with the likes of Scott Arfield and Chris Sutton appearing as pundits
During a live Sky Sports broadcast, O’Hara claimed that the Scottish Premiership is “shocking” for where it ranks in world football standings.
O’Hara said: “You can’t get away from the fact that the Scottish Premiership is the 39th league, which is pretty shocking.
“I look at it, Stockport County are top of League One, they’d go and win the Scottish Premier League, they would.”
The unforgiving comments were so bad that Sky Sports took the video off their social media accounts, following fan backlash, as an X user has re-published the footage.
However, when looked at in isolation, the makings show just how unreasonable O’Hara truly is with his claims on Stockport.

O’Hara miles off in Stockport claim against Rangers and Celtic
In April 2023, Marketing Stockport released an article which detailed that the League One club had made just £4.8m in revenue during 2022.
In the same year of 2022, the Gers made a club record turnover of £86.8m in revenue after Rangers released a statement on their official club site confirming the figure.
Celtic will have most likely made a similar amount, beating Stockport by miles.
| Team | Stadium | Capacity |
| Rangers | Ibrox Stadium | 51,700 |
| Celtic | Celtic Park | 60,832 |
| Stockport County | Edgeley Park | 10,900 |
Rangers and Celtic fans may be able to put their differences aside for once here, as Sky Sports and O’Hara really need to look in the mirror.
Maybe O’Hara is just a bad representative for Sky, but his comments need to be highlighted, as the whole of the Scottish Premiership deserves more respect from the global company.
