How to watch Rangers Women vs Celtic Women today: TV channel and kick-off time for Old Firm Derby at Ibrox

Rangers Women welcome Celtic Women to Ibrox on Friday night as they look to make up for lost ground in the race for the SWPL title.

After losing 3-2 to Hearts Women last time out, the Light Blues dropped down to fifth in the SWPL table and are currently nine points behind unbeaten leaders Glasgow City.

Celtic Women, on the other hand, are third and a Rangers win this week, coupled with a three-goal swing in goal difference, can see Leanne Crichton‘s side leapfrog the Hoops in the title race.

Danny Rohl’s team lost to Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals earlier this month, but Rangers Women have had the measure of their Old Firm rivals this season, beating them already 2-0 away in September thanks to goals by Mia McAulay and Eilidh Austin.

What Leanne Crichton has said about Rangers’ upcoming clash vs Celtic

Rangers manager Crichton is excited to see her team take to the field against Celtic at Ibrox on Friday.

They’ve played their last three home fixtures at Ibrox, beating Hamilton and St Johnstone 11-0 and 12-0 respectively in those games, but also play some home matches at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld.

Rangers Women’s Ibrox record this season:

Cricton believes that a home crowd under the lights in Govan will make all the difference in her side’s second Old Firm derby of the campaign.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity, any Friday night game for me always feels better than a Sunday afternoon,” she said.

“I don’t know if it’s just the evening fixture under the lights. The fact that more often than not more people will come out to the game. We hope we can lean on that. We hope the fans will come and support us and get behind us.

“The players love it. They thrive in it. I know people go on about Ibrox and at times it’s not been kind in terms of the results we would have wanted and that’s been the same this season on a couple of occasions, but performances have been there.

“There’s been so many positives. I don’t think you can complain or be frustrated at playing at Ibrox. The arena that it is, the quality of the surface, everything it gives us in terms of the preparation and the pre-match experience, that coupled with the fan experience and the game throughout. Hopefully we can maximise that.”

After playing Celtic, Rangers play away against Motherwell in East Kilbride, then they have a three-week gap until their next match against Partick Thistle at Broadwood Stadium.
