Patrick Stewart’s Ibrox future sealed after new Rangers announcement

Rangers supporters have made their discontent clear when it comes to Patrick Stewart’s position in the boardroom.

Stewart joined the Rangers ranks in December 2024 as CEO, but it has not been a rosy spell in Govan for the former Manchester United executive.

Rangers fans have targeted Stewart and Kevin Thelwell with protest banners, as they are seen as the chief architects of a dismal start to the campaign.

However, it appears that the former is going nowhere after a new announcement emerged from the Ibrox outfit.

Rangers chief Patrick Stewart joins prestigious European group

The club announced on 12 November that Stewart has been appointed to the Legal & Regulatory Working Group of the European Football Clubs (EFC).

The EFC helps to form disciplinary frameworks, licensing systems, and integrity structures in European football.

Stewart gave a statement to the Gers’ official website when the announcement was released, saying:

His appointment to that group suggests that he is staying with the Light Blues, as why would they allow him to be given the role, if he was not a part of the Gers’ long-term strategy?

Rangers fans will have to put up with Stewart and Thelwell

Unfortunately for supporters in Govan, it seems like Stewart and Thelwell, who are the subject of most fan ire, are sticking around.

They seem to have the backing of the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh, the majority owners in G51.

Gers fans have to accept that they will be around for longer than they would like, and all parties need to be united in the same goal from now on.

Danny Rohl has turned the club around on the pitch, with three Scottish Premiership wins from three matches, but there is a long way to go before they are considered as serious contenders for the biggest honours.

To achieve that, the fanbase, the board and the players need to be on the same page, all working towards the same goal, making Rangers as successful as possible.
