Danny Rohl to be quietly pleased at what’s happened with Mikey Moore away from Rangers

Mikey Moore was involved for England Under-19s on Wednesday as the Rangers ace continues to gain minutes and confidence.

The vociferous nature of Ibrox has played a part on Moore, with this campaign being the first of his career where he is starting games consistently at a high level.

Moore started the season terribly for Rangers under Russell Martin, although he has found a new lease of life playing centrally for Danny Rohl.

The Tottenham loanee is gradually improving, and he scored his first goal for the Bears in Rangers’ 3-0 win over Dundee on Sunday.

Rohl is expected to place a lot of faith in Moore over the course of the season, and the 18-year-old’s 90-minute cameo for England Under-19s against Lithuania will be a huge bonus for the manager.

Danny Rohl will be happy with what Mikey Moore did for England U19s

The 18-year-old has been tipped to be a generational talent for Spurs, yet Moore has had a tough start at Rangers.

But he has bounced back from the criticism very well, and there is now optimism that he can fully turn the season around and become a successful signing.

Moore played the full match as England U19s recorded a 2-0 win over Lithuania to kickstart their European Championship qualifying campaigns with a win.

Whilst most managers would be apprehensive about their stars potentially getting injured on international duty, Rohl will be keen to see his players gain some minutes for their respective countries.

Moore was slammed for his performances at the start of the season, and questions were asked of why he was still starting consistently under Martin.

Pleas were made for Findlay Curtis to start, with both fans and pundits unsure why homegrown talent wasn’t being prioritised over the loanee.

After making a huge impact against Dundee, Moore has been given a new lease of life under Rohl, and getting minutes in the tank for England U19s is beneficial in every aspect.

Rohl has perhaps delivered a masterstroke in changing Moore’s role in the team, and his Rangers career is promisingly poised for the rest of the campaign.

Danny Rohl is getting the best out of Mikey Moore centrally

Martin had mismanaged the young star’s development in the first few months of the season, becoming over-reliant on the Tottenham loanee in a wide position.

Against Dundee, Moore played just in behind Bojan Miovski, picking up brilliant spaces in between the lines and driving forward with the ball.

Moore is clearly very intelligent, and his ability to pick the ball up in the pockets and drive at the Dundee defence spoke volumes about his maturity.

As he looks to gain more action for England U19s against Latvia on 15 November and Scotland on 18 November, Rohl will be optimistic that Moore can come back to Govan with a huge amount of confidence.
