Youssef Chermiti slammed for Rangers ‘howler’ just before win vs Dundee
Youssef Chermiti mistook Dundee for Dundee United as Rangers won 3-0 in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.
Danny Rohl’s team travelled to Dens Park on 9 November and came away with a valuable three points after goals from Nicolas Raskin, Mikey Moore and Djeidi Gassama.
Chermiti was underwhelming again against Dundee, coming on at the break for Bojan Miovski and making little impact.
While the striker’s on-field performances have not lived up to expectations, he also made a blunder off the pitch via his Instagram account.

Rangers have questions to answer about Youssef Chermiti
Chermiti’s social media faux pas before the Gers beat Dundee was a “howler”, Derek Clark says.
The 21-year-old subsequently came off the bench and was embarrassing away from Ibrox as he continues to struggle at the Light Blues.
It’s “unreal” how bad the Portuguese youngster’s displays have been at the Glaswegian outfit since completing an £8million move to G51 from Everton.
Speaking on The Rangers Review on 10 November, presenter Clark said: “Chermiti had a howler before the game started by posting on his Instagram saying he was playing Dundee United. He came on and again looked so off it. It’s unreal.”
Kevin Thelwell can’t justify spending a significant sum on Chermiti, as the gamble with the Portugal Under-21 international arguably hasn’t worked out.
The sporting director has come under heavy criticism after what’s been seen in G51 this season, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
Danny Rohl to bypass Kevin Thelwell with Andrew Cavenagh demand at Ibrox
Rohl has turned things around at Ibrox, with three back-to-back league wins highlighting the positives at the Gers, but there are still several things that need improving.
Rangers should look to invest in their squad in the upcoming transfer windows, as their strategy in the summer clearly hasn’t worked, with the squad undoubtedly worse off than last season.
| Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes played |
| Chermiti | 13 | 1 | 1 | 634 |
| Miovski | 14 | 2 | 0 | 730 |
Thelwell decided to put faith in Bojan Miovski and Chermiti to replace Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane, and he may not want to buy a new number nine in January.
However, Rohl should decide to go straight to Andrew Cavenagh and demand the addition of a reliable goalscorer, and it’s undoubtedly a priority for the Glaswegian outfit.
