Rangers ‘weapon’ has made himself undroppable for Danny Rohl after what he did vs Dundee

Danny Rohl effectively has his first name on the teamsheet every week after what this Rangers star produced in the 3-0 win over Dundee.

The German has handed opportunities to the vast majority of his squad during his opening three Premiership games in charge, and it has brought him plenty of success so far.

Rangers have taken maximum points in the Premiership since Rohl arrived in Govan, in what has been a hugely promising start for the former Sheffield Wednesday boss.

The 36-year-old appears to be growing ever closer to knowing his best XI, and one star has made himself simply undroppable for the Ibrox outfit after his latest display.

Djeidi Gassama has to start every game for Rangers showing vs Dundee

Djeidi Gassama has been largely inconsistent for Rangers since he joined them in the summer, but he showcased everything good about his game in the victory over Dundee.

The Frenchman was a livewire all afternoon at Dens Park, despite the fact that he was playing a somewhat unfamiliar wing-back role.

The 22-year-old completed two dribbles throughout the encounter, and notably capped off a fine result for his team with a beautiful curling finish from the edge of the box in stoppage time.

However, it was actually the defensive side of Gassama’s game that would have pleased Rohl the most this time around.

The former Sheffield Wednesday hero won three tackles throughout proceedings, as well as completing three recoveries, as he defended responsibly when called upon, considering that he is very much a natural winger.

It was an extremely impressive all-round performance from Gassama, as he also won 64 per cent of his ground duels.

He perhaps hasn’t had the impact that many were expecting after his early exploits at Rangers, but Rohl will have a seriously hard time dropping him at all if he continues in this vein of form.

Danny Rohl to unlock more from Rangers ‘weapon’ Djeidi Gassama

Gassama has played at wing-back for Rangers on multiple occasions since Rohl’s arrival, especially in games when they are likely to have the upper hand, and the boss clearly trusts him to operate in a slightly more withdrawn role.

The pair know each other well from their time in South Yorkshire, and Rohl has always been capable of providing Gassama with the confidence that he needs to play his best football.

The former Bayern Munich coach referred to the wideman as a “weapon” in an interview with the Sheffield Star back in 2023, and he possesses a level of faith in him that can only be hugely rewarding for a player.

Gassama’s time at Ibrox has been a tale of inconsistency so far, but with the perfect manager for him now in charge, his moments of magic could be about to become increasingly more regular.
