Danny Rohl to curse his luck at Rangers after latest Connor Barron announcement
Connor Barron has been an important part of Danny Rohl’s reign at Rangers so far.
The midfielder has played a big role in the German’s three Premiership outings as boss, and came on in place of Mohamed Diomande during half-time in Sunday’s win over Dundee.
Barron also started for Rangers in their Europa League clash with Roma last week, which saw him line up against Bryan Cristante in the midfield, a veteran with 45 senior caps for Italy.
The 23-year-old has grown increasingly important at Ibrox since his move from Aberdeen in the summer of 2024, and he has just received major recognition for his performances.

Connor Barron has been called up to the Scotland squad
Barron has featured in almost every game for Rangers since Rohl’s arrival, barring the semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup against Celtic, in which he was ruled out through suspension.
The youngster doesn’t often grab the headlines in Govan, but he is a consistent and reliable performer, who often goes under the radar with his displays.
The fact that Rohl gave him the nod from the start against Roma was a huge indicator of the faith that the boss has in his ability, given that the Italian side are undoubtedly the strongest opposition that the Gers have faced so far this term.
Barron’s performances have now been recognised by Scotland manager Steve Clarke, who has called him up to the squad for the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Denmark.
The youngster is a last-minute addition to the group alongside West Ham midfielder Andy Irving after injuries within the camp.
The Rangers star could be set for just his second senior cap for his country if he features in either game, after he made his debut in the friendly victory over Liechtenstein back in June.
Danny Rohl will be fuming with the news at Rangers
Rohl led Rangers to another victory on Sunday, as his side headed into the latest international break on the back of a resounding win.
The 36-year-old will be in good spirits after picking up another three points in the league, but he will surely be fuming with the manner of the announcement regarding Barron.
The midfielder has played a lot of football recently, and Rohl would surely have welcomed the opportunity to ease the workload on him for a couple of weeks.
There is often a conflict of interest between club and international managers, and Rohl would likely have preferred it if his star hadn’t been called up, particularly at such a late stage.
It is perfectly plausible that he has planned Barron’s recent minutes accordingly, under the assumption that he will have adequate time to recover during the upcoming break.
With that in mind, while it is overwhelmingly positive news for Barron himself, Rohl may secretly be cursing his luck.
