Kris Boyd miles off it with Danny Rohl verdict after Rangers celebrations vs Dundee

Kris Boyd wasn’t a fan of Danny Rohl’s celebrations after Rangers secured victory over Dundee on Sunday.

Rangers beat Dundee 3-0 at Dens Park in a commanding away performance as the Gers returned to Scottish Premiership action.

The Light Blues were on the board after just nine minutes when Nico Raskin headed home a superb James Tavernier cross.

The away side doubled their lead when Mikey Moore scored his first Rangers goal before Djeidi Gassama made it 3-0 in the 90th minute.

This sparked chants from the Bears towards Rohl, met with celebrations from the German that didn’t go down well with Boyd.

Kris Boyd slams Danny Rohl after Dundee win

After Rangers lost 2-0 to Roma in mid-week, they were in desperate need of a result to get back to winning ways.

They got exactly that in what could have been a difficult afternoon against Steven Pressley’s side away from Ibrox.

Under Russell Martin, the Dark Blues could have made for a challenging opposition, but they didn’t even get a sniff against Rohl’s men.

The travelling Gers faithful were appreciative of this and delivered a full standing ovation to their squad after the full-time whistle.

After all the players had received their thanks, the head coach took time to celebrate with supporters by doing multiple first pumps to chants from supporters.

This wasn’t met with positivity from Boyd on Sky Sports Football, as he was quick to criticise Rohl’s celebrations.

He said: “I’m not quite sure about this [Rohl celebrating], just get back in and speak to the players. I get it, I totally understand it, but at the same time, when you start losing matches, you stop doing it.

I get that you want the fans on side, but we need to keep winning games of football.

Rohl needs to develop positive relationship with Rangers fans

For too long, there has been a general lack of positivity behind a Rangers manager, and that is a problem.

Steven Gerrard was probably the last head coach in G51 that supporters have felt a true affinity for based on their relationship.

The Englishman was great at celebrating with supporters and showing that he felt every single moment exactly as they did.

That wasn’t seen with Philippe Clement or Martin, but already looks to be building positively with Rohl in the dugout.

His celebrations after the Dundee win can only be seen as a boost, especially while supporters continue to sing his name.

For someone who wants Rangers to improve, Boyd is certainly quick to be negative and slam something as simple as a manager connecting with supporters.

The Scot is miles off it with this general verdict, but he is likely to be the first to criticise Rohl if he doesn’t thank fans after a defeat in the future.
