Jayden Meghoma’s worrying trend under Danny Rohl hints at Rangers decision
Rangers’ loss to Roma on Thursday night has raised lots of questions and further concerns.
The Bears now have little to no hope of having success in the Europa League after the defeat at Ibrox to Roma.
John Souttar’s performance has been called out, as Youssef Chermiti once again proved he is not capable of playing at the level required for the Gers.
Nasser Djiga’s inclusion was questioned, with Danny Rohl now facing a crossroads over his team selection for Sunday’s game against Dundee.
Rohl has been in charge for five games now, and a pattern seen with Jayden Meghoma could be very telling of what happens in January.

Jayden Meghoma could be replaced in January
Meghoma was brought to Rangers from Brentford on loan in the summer and has so far racked up 15 appearances for the Gers.
The 19-year-old can play anywhere on the left side, but Rohl has often used Meghoma as a left-wing back.
Steven Thompson dubbed Meghoma as ‘rotten’ during Rohl’s first game in charge of the Gers against Brann, as the young man didn’t leave a great first impression.
- Meghoma was hooked at half-time against Roma
- He was also taken off after 45 minutes versus Hibernian
- Rohl may not fully trust Meghoma
Rangers are limited in the left-wing back area, as Meghoma is currently the only real option for Rohl to use.
Meghoma has been brought off at half-time in 40 per cent of the games under Rohl so far, but has started all five of the head coach’s first games in charge.

Rohl clearly wants to use wing-backs, but he may push Rangers to sign an improvement on Meghoma in January.

How has Meghoma actually played?
Meghoma grabbed an assist in the 3-1 win against Kilmarnock, as there was hope that the youngster could improve on that in further performances.
However, since then, he has been substituted in the last three matches, including the loss to Celtic on Sunday.
| Appearances (starts) | Minutes per game | Key passes per game | Tackles per game | Successful dribbles per game | Average rating |
| 7 (7) | 73 | 0.9 | 2.3 | 0.6 | 6.56 |
The Englishman has started in all seven of his appearances in the Scottish Premiership, but he only averages 73 minutes per game.
His stats are showing that he is having little effect going forward, which is what’s required from a wing-back.
However, Meghoma could still be a viable defensive option at left-back, as he boasts an impressive 2.3 tackles per game.
It’s still clear to see that, on average, Meghoma isn’t doing enough in his current position, and Rohl’s decisions could be telling of what Rangers do come January.
