Youssef Chermiti already finished at Rangers as Alan Brazil reveals next club

Youssef Chermiti’s Rangers career looks to be over less than three months after arriving in Glasgow, with Alan Brazil sharing his expected next club.

Chermiti joined Rangers for £10million from Everton on 1 September, with the move being pushed through by sporting director Kevin Thelwell.

Having started all three of Rangers’ Europa League games this season, Chermiti has looked devoid of confidence and lacking in any quality, especially for that price.

Chermiti’s woeful displays against Celtic and Roma showcased how out of his depth he really is in Rangers colours, and speculation around his future is starting to gain momentum.

And Alan Brazil has now revealed that the 21-year-old could leave Ibrox in January, with an initial loan move back to Portugal on the cards.

Youssef Chermiti set for January move to Braga

Chermiti’s only goal for Rangers came in the 3-1 win over Kilmarnock, and it’s safe to say his performances have been well below the required standard.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 7 November, Brazil revealed that Braga were interested in signing Chermiti on loan.

He said: “Someone texted me saying Chermiti will go on loan to Braga. I think he’s on his way out; they’ve decided he’s not good enough. See you later.”

Whilst Chermiti isn’t in control of how much money the Bears spent on him, it’s up to him to prove his worth to Danny Rohl, and he has clearly not done that on the numerous opportunities he has been given.

Danilo’s revival at Rangers doesn’t bode well for the Portuguese striker, and one goal in 12 appearances is an appalling return for the second-most expensive player in the club’s history.

An exit seems more than likely at this point, and if Chermiti doesn’t improve in the next month, then he will undoubtedly go down as one of the worst players to ever wear the Rangers shirt.

Kevin Thelwell was heavily scrutinised for paying such an extortionate fee for a striker who hadn’t scored a senior goal in over two years.

Kevin Thelwell must follow Youssef Chermiti and leave Rangers

Thelwell gambled £10m on Chermiti despite there being no evidence to suggest that he would be a success in Govan.

To say the recruitment strategy has been a disaster is an understatement, with Djeidi Gassama and Derek Cornelius proving themselves to be the pick of the bunch.

Chermiti has blatantly failed at Rangers, and it’s clear that Thelwell’s every move will be watched from now on.

However, making a mistake that expensive is a sackable offence, and fans will continue to turn on Thelwell as Chermiti’s performances continue to worsen.
