Rangers plans in place to rectify Kevin Thelwell mess as Mujaid Sadick update drops
Rangers are interested in the potential signing of centre-back Mujaid Sadick from Belgian Pro League outfit Genk.
After Rangers’ 2-0 loss to Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night, it’s clear to see that added reinforcements are needed sooner rather than later.
John Souttar was blamed for his performance against the Italian outfit, as many Rangers individuals were at fault for a poor performance at Ibrox.
Rangers’ bleak striker situation seems to only be getting worse as Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski continue to show their lack of quality after missing big chances on Thursday.
After the latest update on Sadick, Rangers could now be looking to replace one of Kevin Thelwell‘s main missteps in the summer transfer window.

Mujaid Sadick could replace Nasser Djiga
Summer signing Nasser Djiga was called out for his performance against Roma, as the centre-back has failed to convince Gers fans he is good enough to play for the Bears.
Rangers’ best performance under Danny Rohl came in a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock in October, coincidentally, the only game in which Djiga hasn’t featured under the German head coach.
Mujaid Sadick’s player profile:
- Sadick is 25 years old
- He is a Spanish centre back
- Sadick has played 135 times for Genk
- The Spaniard has featured in Champions League and Europa League games
- He is right-footed and stands at 6,0″ tall
Sadick is said to be a physical defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and able to play out from the back.
He usually features on the right side of a back four, and would need to adjust to suit Rohl’s preferred five-at-the-back formation.

Interestingly, Rangers fans may have forgotten that Sadick has already played at Ibrox this season.
What’s the latest speculation on Sadick to Rangers?
Rangers were beaten 1-0 by Genk in September at Ibrox, as it’s possible that officials had an eye on Sadick, with the centre-back keeping a clean sheet on the evening.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri on X, Rangers have been interested in Sadick for a while and have made previous enquiries for the defender.
Tavolieri has suggested that the feeling is that Rangers will make an official approach in the upcoming transfer windows.
With the way things are at Ibrox at the moment, it would be no surprise to see Sadick come to Rangers in January, most likely taking the place of Djiga.
