‘Get rid’ – Kevin Thelwell targeted in £35m claim as Danny Rohl helpless in Rangers loss vs Roma

Kevin Thelwell and Co. have come under fire after the uninspiring scenes during Rangers’ match against Roma on Thursday.

Rangers were beaten 2-0 by Roma in the Europa League as remaining hopes of progressing to the knock-out stages have been ended.

Things are starting to get really toxic again as Rangers fans held up banners of Patrick Stewart and Thelwell, with it now looking the best idea for the pair to depart Ibrox immediately.

After more unconvincing performances by certain individuals, and Danny Rohl left with no help, further questions have been asked.

Derek Clark says he doesn’t ‘recognise this Rangers team’

There’s not much Rohl can do about the current players at his disposal at Rangers.

Roma were simply the better team on the day on Thursday, but there were hardly any positives for the Gers to take.

Speaking after the game on X, Rangers Review presenter Derek Clark claimed Gers may have to “get rid” of star players due to Thelwell‘s transfer failures.

Clark said: “Don’t recognise this Rangers team. Could understand if the club had to downsize and get rid of all the best players.

“Madness to think £35m was wasted to serve up this.”

Summer signing Bojan Miovski came off the bench, failing to convert at the back post after a delightful ball from James Tavernier in the second half, which could have staged a late comeback.

However, one £8m man in particular yet again proved his incapability against Roma.

There’s no hope left for Youssef Chermiti at Rangers

Rohl has shown faith in Youssef Chermiti to do the business for the Bears, but has not been repaid by the striker.

Statistics prove Rangers’ bleak striker situation in comparison to last season, and it’s safe to say Ibrox has lost all hope and patience with Chermiti.

Chermiti had the chance to have Rangers in the game on multiple occasions during the match against the Italian outfit.

Thelwell has invested in the Portuguese striker at both the Bears and Everton, as Chermiti is showing no signs of promise.

He has poor movement, composure, and ball control, and ultimately proves no goalscoring threat, so a January exit is needed.
