Ally McCoist can’t believe remarkable incident in Rangers loss vs Roma
Ally McCoist was baffled to see Zeki Celik not score for Roma against Rangers in the Europa League.
Ibrox witnessed Gian Piero Gasperini’s team win on 6 November, with the Gers still looking to get their first points in the European competition.
Rohl’s team were defensively compromised against Roma in the first half, with Matias Soule and Lorenzo Pellegrini finding the back of the net.
While the German manager tried to change things after the break, the visitors cruised to a 2-0 victory in Glasgow.

Roma could’ve scored more in win vs Rangers
In the 69th minute of the game between the Gers and Roma, Kostas Tsimikas struck the ball inside the box, which subsequently reached Celik, who was free for a tap-in at the back post.
McCoist couldn’t believe the Turkish right-back was unable to get a decent touch on the ball and put the ball in the back of an open net at Ibrox.
While there would certainly have been a check for offside if the Serie A outfit had scored, on initial viewing, it certainly looked close.
Speaking on TNT Sports 3 on 6 November, McCoist said: “He’s got to score, has to score. He hits it with his thigh, I think, at the back post. Celik, right thigh, that’s going down as a sitter. Remarkable.”
The Ibrox faithful created an amazing atmosphere against Roma, but they were let down by the Gers’ lacklustre display in G51.
While Rohl will be given the benefit of the doubt, having taken over from Russell Martin, the German manager must quickly find a solution for the Light Blues’ defensive worries.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises sent message at Ibrox
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises may have questions to answer at Ibrox, with the Glaswegian outfit arguably deteriorating since the American takeover.
Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell have also been targets of Rangers fans, who want to see changes implemented in the boardroom after an abysmal start to the season.
Banners that targeted the CEO and the sporting director during the game against Roma were removed by stewards, while fans demanded that the US consortium turn things around.
While Martin’s sacking has curbed the toxicity at Ibrox, it wouldn’t be surprising to see things get bad again if results don’t improve.
