Emmanuel Fernandez to push for Rangers exit in January as Danny Rohl sends clear Ibrox message
Emmanuel Fernandez may be on his way out of Rangers in the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old was a major acquisition for the Gers in the summer, when he completed a £3.5million move to Ibrox from English League One side Peterborough United.
Fernandez’s move to Rangers came as something of a surprise during the recent transfer window, and things have simply not gone to plan for him at all during the early stages of his time in Govan.
Danny Rohl’s arrival has shaken up the squad somewhat of late, but that has done little to improve the centre-back’s current situation.

Emmanuel Fernandez to want loan move amid Danny Rohl snub
Fernandez had a nightmare for Rangers in their 1-1 draw with St Mirren in the Premiership back in August, and that quickly saw him fall out of favour with Russell Martin.
The defender failed to make another competitive appearance under the 39-year-old, and his situation has hardly improved at all since his former boss was given the boot.
The 23-year-old had to wait another two whole months for his next competitive action, which came in the form of a stoppage-time substitute appearance during the recent win over Hibernian.
Rohl’s arrival appears to have opened the door to some of the squad players at Ibrox, with the likes of Mohamed Diomande enjoying something of a resurgence of late.
However, for some, like Fernandez, the door still appears to be firmly closed.
The youngster has played just one single minute in the four games since Rohl was appointed, and it is certainly fair to interpret that as the German sending a message that he doesn’t fancy him.

With that in mind, Fernandez will surely be keen to get away from Rangers as quickly as possible in January, even if that means just securing a loan move to help boost his gametime.
Emmanuel Fernandez will feel hard done by at Rangers
Fernandez was a big signing for Rangers in the summer in a financial sense, even if he perhaps didn’t carry the same level of reputation as some of the other additions.
However, the youngster hasn’t really been given the chance to truly impress in Govan.
Martin cast him aside at the first sign of weakness and punished him for his mistakes rather than helping him to grow and learn from them.
Rangers can be an unforgiving football club at times, and the way the previous boss handled Fernandez will certainly not have done his confidence any favours.
Rohl has likely affected it even further with his snub of the defender in the early stages of his reign, even if it may be somewhat unintentional.
With that in mind, it feels as though the best course of action is Fernandez to head elsewhere in January, and hopefully return to Rangers as a new player in the summer.
