Alan Brazil made to look silly after on-air call-out over Rangers and Celtic snub – ‘Why is that?’
Alan Brazil was not impressed with his own talkSPORT producers over a perceived snub of Rangers and Celtic.
Celtic beat Rangers 3-1 in the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals on Sunday, with both sides now switching focus to European matters on Thursday.
Rangers host Roma at Ibrox in a tasty fixture on the face of it, while Celtic are away to FC Midtjylland in the slightly earlier kickoff slot.
Both those games have plenty riding on them, with Rangers knowing victory is imperative if they are to advance in the Europa League.
And that is why Brazil was not impressed at the lack of mention for both teams on Thursday morning’s talkSPORT Breakfast show.
Rangers vs Roma fixture overlooked on talkSPORT – or is it
Danny Rohl says his Rangers side are raring to go against Roma in what will be his fifth match in charge already, just over two weeks into the job.
There was no mention of the match – or indeed Celtic’s – when Alan Brazil read out the day’s fixtures from a sheet of paper in front of him.
“I’m looking at the games here, we have Sturm Graz against Forest in the Europa League. Villa face Maccabi Tel Aviv, and also [Crystal] Palace against AZ,” Brazil said.
“There’s no mention of the Scottish clubs here. Why is that, Mr Producer? Why? I know they’re not on talkSPORT, but any chance I can talk about them?“
However, it soon became clear that Rangers and Celtic’s fixtures had a mention further down the running order.

Roma are without a number of players against Rangers, with World Cup winner Paulo Dybala among those missing out at Ibrox.
Danny Rohl hoping for ‘special’ European night at Ibrox
Rohl’s first match in charge of Rangers was the away defeat to Brann two weeks ago.
The visit of Roma is therefore his first taste of European action under the Ibrox lights.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Rohl said he’s excited for the contest.
“I saw the video after the RB Leipzig game here at home and what a crazy atmosphere it was,” Rohl said of that famous semi-final win three-and-a-half years ago.
“I spoke with some players in the last couple of days from Leipzig, and they all said the atmosphere at Ibrox was really special.
“It’s also part of why I enjoy being here now. It’s about winning games in the league but also having good European nights.
“What I have heard so far is that the atmosphere is always special in European games, and hopefully we can bring it together with our performance on the pitch.“
Rohl will not need to ask others about their experiences of the famous Ibrox atmosphere come 10pm this evening.
This is a match in which every supporter in attendance at Ibrox must get 100 per cent behind the players in the hope of reigniting this European campaign.
Thanks to the bloated nature of the league phase, Rangers still have a shot at advancing to the knockout rounds.
It is a chance that needs to be taken with both hands in this clash with Serie A heavyweights Roma.
