Neil Lennon shares what Danny Rohl must do as Michael Stewart reveals new Rangers concern

Michael Stewart has become the latest name to share real concerns about the Rangers attack.

Rangers crashed to a 3-1 defeat against Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final on Sunday, battling bravely despite playing the majority with 10 men.

Youssef Chermiti missed several huge chances at Hampden Park, with Danilo and Bojan Miovski also failing to catch the eye in the final third.

Danny Rohl was left pulling his hair out despite the valiant effort of his side, but it still ended in defeat.

Michael Stewart calls out Rangers’ issues he has seen

Michael Stewart was impressed with several Rangers stars, but he did admit that those in the final third need to start improving immediately for success to arrive.

Speaking on the Scottish Football Social Club on 3 November, Stewart labelled Rohl as “outstanding”, but revealed that he is basically being let down by some.

“His message to them was clear and it was concise,” he said.

“It was actually effective; they were hunting Celtic; they were disrupting them. I thought it was outstanding from Danny Rohl.

“But, the big concern for Rangers is, Chermiti looks far from convincing yet again. Danilo he scored a great goal against Hibs, but realistically, it doesn’t look like he’s going to do the job that Rangers need, and Miovski looks like a different player than he was at Aberdeen.”

Neil Lennon shares new Rangers remedy

Neil Lennon agreed with Stewart, but he did say that the problem potentially runs deeper than just those in the final third at Ibrox.

The former Celtic manager admitted that despite promising performances against Celtic and in Europe, consistency is what Rohl needs to deliver in Govan.

“Rangers have played really well against Celtic in the last four or five games, and they played well at times last season in Europe, but the problem they had was consistency,” Lennon said.

“That’s what Danny Rohl has to get, he has to get the mentality right in the dressing room.”

Jack Butland was sensational against Celtic, and despite the valiant effort, the chances that the 10 men of Rangers created were ultimately wasted.

Consistency with results should bring better form, and the likes of Chermiti, Danilo and Miovski should be critical to that with more goals and contributions alongside it.

That is what Rohl will want next, with better defensive stability and attitude already on show.

With a huge game for Rangers against Roma in the Europa League next, it is time to start a positive run with winnable Scottish Premiership games against Dundee, Livingston and Falkirk coming in November.
