Danny Rohl has perfect tonic for true Rangers lift-off after what Roma have planned for Ibrox
Rangers will be licking their lips at the latest news from Roma ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash.
The Gers welcome the Italian giants to Ibrox in a crucial continental clash, as they go in search of their first point of the season in the Europa League.
Rangers were beaten 3-0 by Brann in their last outing in the competition, and their new boss will be desperate to right the wrongs from that defeat in his first game in charge of the Govan outfit.
The Premiership side are undoubtedly facing an uphill battle to defeat their Serie A opponents, but Rohl can take huge encouragement from the latest development from the Italian capital.

Roma set to rest key players on Thursday
Rohl has instilled a fresh sense of belief at Rangers in the first few weeks of his reign, as the club slowly recovers from the disastrous reign of Russell Martin.
Optimism is slowly returning at Ibrox despite Sunday’s defeat to Celtic in the semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup, and the team will understandably fancy taking a swing at Roma on Thursday.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are understandably one of the favourites to win the competition, but their stuttering start in Europe has shown that they are far from unbeatable.
- Rangers and Roma have never met in competitive action
- Rangers were beaten 3-0 away at Napoli in their last meeting with an Italian team (October 2022)
- They have scored just once in their opening three Europa League games this term
The capital club have fallen to shock defeats at home to Lille and Viktoria Plzen in their last two Europa League outings, and the upcoming meeting with Rangers is another potential banana skin for them.
Rohl and his men will also now be buoyed by the news that Gasperini is likely to rest two of his regular starters for the midweek clash.
Centre-back Gianluca Mancini and centre-midfielder Kouadio Kone have both started all 10 of the opening league games for the Giallorossi, and they are likely to be absent from the starting XI on Thursday, according to Pagine Romaniste.

Evan Ferguson, Angelino and Paulo Dybala are already sidelined for the clash, and news of these plans from Gasperini will surely have the Gers tails up ahead of the game.

Rangers will have hope of another famous European night
Rangers are backed by a formidable atmosphere at Ibrox, and they will be desperate for another magical European night to unfold on home turf.
The Bears have claimed some impressive scalps in Govan over the years, and memories of the win over RB Leipzig to book their place in the final of the Europa League back in 2022 are still fresh in the mind.
A hard-fought draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League back in 2005 was another notable occasion at Ibrox, and there is absolutely no reason why that cannot cause an upset once again this week.
Rohl will feel that he has the perfect tonic to spring a shock on the Italian giants, but he will need the fans to play their part and make the atmosphere as intimidating as possible for the visitors.
If they can provide that, then Roma may be in for a much more difficult night than they are perhaps expecting.
