Keith Hackett Exclusive: This is what Willie Collum must do after official Rangers complaint vs Celtic

Willie Collum is set for a very busy week after Rangers crashed to defeat against Celtic on Sunday.

Collum has already been backed to deliver several apologies, as Rangers lost 3-1 at Hampden Park in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final on 2 November.

Thelo Aasgaard was sent off for a high boot on Anthony Ralston, yet Auston Trusty somehow escaped the same punishment for a late kick to the head of Jack Butland.

Rangers have written an official complaint to the Scottish FA already, as they believe Trusty endangered his opponent with the tackle.

Willie Collum to meet with Rangers after Celtic drama

Keith Hackett has urged Collum to arrange a meeting in person with Rangers representatives, so that he can go through every decision made by Walsh and his team.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the ex-FIFA-listed referee believes that people need to remember that mistakes can still be made on the biggest stage.

My suggestion would be for Willie Collum, Head of the Scottish Referees, to pick the phone up and arrange a face-to-face meeting with the club representatives,” Hackett said.

During those discussions, contentious incidents should be examined in detail.

Willie can then give his detailed view on each one of them, the position and viewing angle, and VAR consideration.

He should take with him the recordings of VAR and the Referee. Yes, he might have to admit that his colleague got it wrong.

“Willie Collum has great experience and is an excellent communicator. Remember, on the day some Rangers players made mistakes, they are human, and so is the referee.

Nick Walsh is not good enough

This isn’t the first time that Walsh has finished a Rangers game with his reputation in tatters.

Unfortunately, it seems to happen every single time.

From disallowing an Abdallah Sima goal against Celtic at Hampden Park to sending off Mohamed Diomande against Dundee United despite being recommended to overturn it, this is happening far too often.

Walsh may be kept away from Rangers games in the near future, with Collum needing to do some repair work before he loses total confidence from everyone watching on over the Scottish FA.
