Rangers injury and suspension latest as one definitely ruled out vs Celtic

Rangers and Celtic head into their clash on Sunday looking to reach the first final of the season.

Rangers are coming off a 1-0 win over Hibernian, Danny Rohl’s second successive victory in the Scottish Premiership.

Meanwhile, Martin O’Neill got off to a positive start after replacing Brendan Rodgers, with a 4-0 win over Falkirk last time out.

The sides will meet at Hampden Park on 2 November in the Scottish League Cup semi-final clash, with the victor having a great chance to win a trophy.

Rangers have one player definitely missing for Celtic clash

Connor Barron is the only Rangers player that is missing for certain, as he is suspended for the Old Firm clash.

Dujon Sterling and Rabbi Matondo have been sidelined for a long time, but Rohl suggested that everyone is available to him in his pre-match press conference on 31 October.

He said: “Connor Barron is suspended for Sunday, everyone else is available for selection.”

Who is out for Celtic ahead of Rangers clash?

Celtic have several concerns ahead of the clash with the Gers.

Kelechi Iheanacho is a doubt for the meeting, with a hamstring problem that he picked up in the Europa League win over Sturm Graz.

Meanwhile, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers are long-term absentees and are not expected to return for the cup contest, which is a massive loss for O’Neill’s side.

Rohl will hope that his side can overcome their arch-rivals, given their injury issues and the recent chaos behind the scenes.

If they can, it would provide a huge chance to make a dismal campaign into a successful one, and kickstart his reign in Govan, after a miserable start to the season under Russell Martin.

It is always great to get one over on the Hoops, but it is even more important this time around, as it could define the new era in G51, and bring a first trophy for the new majority ownership.
