Mohamed Diomande could be secret Danny Rohl weapon as biggest Celtic threat emerges

Danny Rohl has the opportunity to make a statement for Rangers on Sunday.

Rangers take on Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup final, an Old Firm derby which comes with extremely high stakes.

Hearts look like the runaways for the Scottish Premiership title this season, and after Brendan Rodgers resigned from Celtic, the Hoops’ season is up in the air.

Rohl must play counter-attacking football against Celtic, but it won’t count for anything if he doesn’t take note of one man in particular.

Benjamin Nygren is Celtic’s biggest threat

Rangers will be delighted to see Celtic struggle along with themselves this season, but Rohl now has the opportunity to make it three wins in a row since his first defeat as Gers boss.

The Bears’ season looks to be on the up with Rohl at the helm, but Celtic still have a shining light in Benjamin Nygren that the Gers need to be wary of.

Nygren joined the Hoops in the summer and looks to be the biggest threat that Rangers need to nullify.

However, luckily for Rohl, he has the perfect man in Mohamed Diomande, who can be used to man-mark and roughen up Nygren.

Mohamed Diomande is key to victory vs Celtic

Rangers Reviews’ Stevie Clifford said Diomande had “terrific footballing ability” in August last year, as the midfielder has been on somewhat of a downward slope in the last couple of months.

Diomande started in Rangers‘ victory over Kilmarnock, but was benched in the win against Hibs on Wednesday night.

Ahead of the showdown, Diomande has been predicted to start for the Gers, as Rohl needs to utilise the midfielder to stay on Nygren and be aggressive.

Nygren is likely to start in an advanced midfield role, which could be perfect for Diomande and Rangers, as Rohl may very well look to use this tactic for victory.
