Danny Rohl shares Rangers team news update vs Celtic as two potentially back

Danny Rohl has shared an update on the state of his Rangers squad for the clash with Celtic on Sunday.

Rangers beat Hibernian 1-0 last time out, and the ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss will be looking to continue his impressive start in his first Old Firm clash.

Danilo scored the winning goal for Rangers, and he now has two goals in his last two Scottish Premiership matches.

However, attention is now turned to the Scottish League Cup, and the semi-final clash with Martin O’Neill’s side at Hampden Park on 2 November.

Rohl shares potential double Rangers update ahead of Celtic clash

Rabbi Matondo and Dujon Sterling have not featured for Rangers under Rohl, with both missing significant time with injuries.

Rohl confirmed that everyone apart from Conor Barron are available for selection against the Hoops, suggesting that the duo are available for the clash

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on 31 October, he said: “Connor Barron is suspended for Sunday, everyone else is available for selection.”

Rangers’ recent record vs Celtic is encouraging

The Gers have lost just one of their last six against their arch-rivals, so they should be confident heading into the clash.

The sides drew 0-0 when they met in the league earlier this season when Russell Martin was in charge, and the Light Blues squandered a 1-0 lead in the clash at the end of last season for a 1-1 draw.

The Gers had won the previous two meetings, with a 3-2 victory in March and a 3-0 drubbing of Brendan Rodgers’ side in January.

The most controversial clash between the sides was in the Premier Sports Cup final in December 2024 when the sides drew 3-3 and the Hoops won on penalties.

Vaclav Cerny was brought down in the box in extra time by Liam Scales, but John Beaton and the VAR team failed to award the blatant penalty.

Rohl will hope that his team do not suffer from any similar dodgy decisions in the biggest match of his reign in the dugout so far.

A win against the champions and the possibility of winning a trophy would be a huge boost for the Govan outfit, so they need to extend that good run when the sides meet again.

They must take advantage of the chaos at the Parkhead club, and secure a place in the final.
