Thelo Aasgaard destroyed at Rangers after misleading reports from down south

Rangers should be demanding more of Thelo Aasgaard ahead of facing Hibernian in the William Hill Premiership on Wednesday.

Danny Rohl’s team will travel to Easter Road on 29 October, and it will be interesting to see whether the former Luton Town player will start for them.

While Aasgaard had some decent moments against Kilmarnock, some fans have questioned his impact on games.

The 23-year-old was brought to the Glaswegian outfit with high hopes, but it’s safe to say he hasn’t lived up to the hype so far.

Ross McCormack always sceptical of Thelo Aasgaard at Rangers

Ross McCormack isn’t the biggest fan of Aasgaard, who he thinks doesn’t do much in games.

The former Scotland international hasn’t been impressed by the attacking-midfielder’s time at Ibrox after what was being said about his time down south.

McCormack has always been sceptical of the Norway international, who scored two goals in 17 Championship appearances for Luton last season.

Speaking on Open Goal on 28 October, the Scotsman said: “I don’t think he does much in a game. He looks good. Aesthetically, looks good, but doesn’t do nearly enough. Considering the reports that you’re reading when he comes up here, how he’s different class and all the rest, he scored two goals for Luton. So I was always a bit sceptical.”

Asgaard has shown his heroics for Norway in the current campaign, scoring four goals in the 11-1 win over Moldova on 9 September.

However, fans in G51 are still waiting for the midfielder to show the potential expected of him, with every player arguably getting a clean slate under Rohl.

Danny Rohl set for another experiment vs Hibernian

Rohl may axe Djeidi Gassama against Hibernian after his underwhelming performance at Ibrox.

Rangers seemingly opted to mirror Kilmarnock’s formation, playing with three defenders, with the former Sheffield Wednesday attacker and Jayden Meghoma playing out wide.

Hibs also play with a back-three, but there’s a slight tweak in their midfield, with Jamie McGrath often pulling the strings in the number 10 role.

Apart from Gassama, Lyall Cameron may start for the Gers in place of Aasgaard as the German manager continues to figure out the best way to win matches in G51.
