Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton go head-to-head on Youssef Chermiti as Rangers face Hibernian

Youssef Chermiti may be lucky to start for Rangers against Hibernian in the William Hill Premiership on Wednesday.

The Portugal Under-21 international scored his first goal for the Gers as Kilmarnock were beaten at Ibrox on 26 October.

However, Danny Rohl wasn’t pleased with Chermiti’s celebration after scoring, with the striker making a talking gesture to fans.

The former Everton forward certainly had some cheek doing that, considering he hasn’t done much at the Glaswegian outfit, but he’s still been trusted to lead the line at Easter Road on 29 October.

Rangers fans right to criticise Youssef Chermiti

Kris Boys feels Gers fans have every right to call out Chermiti after a string of consistently poor performances this season.

The Scotsman slammed the 21-year-old for seemingly taking a dig at the supporters at Ibrox after finding the back of the net, as they can make or break him.

Chris Sutton had a slightly different opinion, though, and he looks to have some sympathy for the Portuguese youngster, who cost £8million at the Glaswegian outfit in the summer.

Speaking on Sky Sports Football on 29 October, Boyd said: “I didn’t like it, to be fair. Running over and telling the fans to shush. They’re the ones who come out to support you every single week. And let’s be realistic, they’ve got every right to criticise him since he’s come in and ask questions because he’s not been good enough.”

Sutton responded: “Don’t you like to see that bit of fire though? I don’t agree with it, but it’s a reaction. He wants to do well. He’s probably feeling the price tag. They’ve signed a development player, and that’s a lot of money on a development player.”

Bojan Miovski hasn’t been a reliable outlet at Ibrox, and it makes sense to take the North Macedonia international out of the firing line against Hibernian.

Danny Rohl has new number nine solution at Ibrox

Rohl seems to trust Danilo to contribute, with the forward starting in the last two games under the new head coach.

While Rangers fans expected a lot from the Brazilian national when he was signed in 2023, consistent fitness issues have marred his development.

Danilo’s record at the Gers last season

With the 26-year-old now looking to make himself a regular fixture under the German manager, he must take it game by game.

Danilo has the ability to make a difference for the Gers against Hibs, but it remains to be seen whether he can do so.
