Keith Hackett accuses Hibernian star of cheating vs Rangers, John Beaton fell for it
Rangers have a controversial history with John Beaton, and it nearly continued in the 1-0 win against Hibernian.
Beaton was the referee when Rangers were denied a blatant penalty in the Scottish League Cup final defeat to Celtic last season.
Danny Rohl was looking for a second successive Rangers win on 29 October, and his side took the lead in the fifth minute through Danilo.
However, there was an incident towards the end of the first half at Easter Road, which Beaton got terribly wrong.

Kieran Bowie dived against Rangers, should have been booked
Keith Hackett urged Rangers not to complain about the officiating team for the Celtic clash on the weekend, after Frank Connor, who was also involved in the final drama, was appointed as assistant referee.
However, he believes that the Gers have every right to be angry this time around after what a Hibs star attempted to get away with at Easter Road.
Keiran Bowie went down on the verge of half-time, trying to get Jayden Meghoma sent off, but the ex-FIFA-listed referee believes it was simulation.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, he said: “This is not a foul but an act of simulation aimed at deceiving the referee.
“Meghoma’s opponent should have received a yellow card.”
Danny Rohl made the right call after Meghoma incident
Meghoma had been one of the Light Blues’ best players on the night, but Rohl took him off to avoid the chance of a second booking.
It was the right call, as Beaton was not exactly shy when it came to handing cards out in the contest, as he gave five out.
- Meghoma completed 86 per cent of his 22 passes, per Sofascore
- He made two clearances, two interceptions and one recovery in the clash
- The Brentford loanee won five of the nine ground duels that he attempted, for a 56 per cent success rate
Meghoma was a likely candidate to be dismissed and miss the clash with the Hoops on 2 November, which the Gers cannot afford.
Rohl made the right decision and saved his man from a red card that Beaton would probably have given him at some point, had he stayed on the field.
Beaton struck later on anyway, as he awarded a penalty to the hosts, but they missed it.
