Steven Davis twist emerges as Danny Rohl in search of new Rangers appointment
Danny Rohl isn’t done building his backroom staff at Rangers after replacing Russell Martin.
The German manager was appointed by the Gers after weeks of speculation over the vacancy in G51, with Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat also heavily linked to the job.
Rohl managed to get his first win against Kilmarnock on 26 October, and the former Sheffield Wednesday boss will undoubtedly be hoping to build on that result.
Rohl’s next test will be against Hibernian at Easter Road on 29 October, but the 36-year-old is also assessing options to add to his coaching team simultaneously.

Rangers return on cards for Steven Davis or Neil McCann
Steven Davis and Neil McCann are in contention to join Rohl’s staff at the Gers, according to the Daily Record.
The news outlet reports on 27 October that the two former Light Blues players are in a two-way fight to return to Ibrox and be the former Sheffield Wednesday boss’ right-hand man.
It’s been claimed that the German manager is taking his time to pick the right candidate to join him and help turn things around at the Glaswegian outfit.
This comes after Keith Jackson had dismissed Davis as an option for the Gers, with the journalist claiming on Hotline Live on 27 October: “There were two names that were originally linked to Rohl, this is before he withdrew from the process, and those names were Davis and Wallace. But there’s been nothing to suggest; I’m fairly sure it’s not going to be Davis. I don’t know about Wallace. I’ve even heard McCann’s name getting thrown in.”
Sascha Lense and Matthias Kaltenbach joined Rohl at Ibrox as the men’s first-team performance manager and assistant coach, respectively.
The German manager admitted during his appointment that he was keen on bringing a former player back to Govan, but it remains to be seen who that will be.
Steven Davis record at Ibrox: Titles and caretaker stint
Rohl wanted Davis with him at Ibrox before he was appointed manager, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the former midfielder return to G51.
The ex-Southampton star spent around nine years at Rangers across two separate stints, winning four league titles, three Scottish Cups and three League Cups.

Between Michael Beale’s departure and Phillipe Clement’s appointment at the Light Blues, Davis was named interim head coach and took charge of two games.
Right now, the 40-year-old is part of Northern Ireland’s backroom team, but his situation is one to keep an eye on.
